Damn, i was running with the light on for two days. When the car has about a gallon left in its tank, it automatically cuts off gas occasionaly so you won't forget to fill up. the gas started to cut out, but I decided I could make it to the store before filling. At the next sign, my car died and I had to wait 30 seconds before it sarted again. I slowly crept tot eh Chevron and filled up. Only had about .7 gallons left in the tank. I was lucky that it gave me warning signs before it shut down on me!!! I won't be doing that again anytime soon!!!

I have found that the Reserve Capacity of the tank is about 3 gallons when the light pops on. Is this about the same for you guys?

 

The same thing happened to me a about 2 months ago. I thought I had 1 tank left and it just shut off 2 feet away from the pump and we had to push it a few. Damn.

I put in about 16.9 gallons, very close to being run dry!!

 

Damn thats not good! Can't running low on gas suck up the sediment or whatever crap might be lingering on the bottom of your gas tank and run it through your fuel injectors?

 

So how many miles can you travel with 3 gallons of gas left before your car dies?

 

Me? 30 or 40.

 

hell yea, same shit happend to me (running out of gas) about 10 feet from my exit!! it wasnt too much fun...
