I was bored last weekend (and ran out of money for proper things so I had to do something) and as the long weekend here is this little thing you can do:

Every time I opened the door i didnt like the look of these ugly things

All I did to get them off was undo the screw. Took some serious effort to get it to crack off initially but then came off easy.

Tip: do the bottom one first so it can still hang off of the top screw and wont swing around and damage the paint on the door jams.
I also wiped the old paint and other residue clean off of the door jams.

Soo I took them off and got to set up here after sanding them down pretty good

I put the screws through the styrofoam so the paint wouldnt get on the threads of them. I also used all of whatever I had left of my caliper paint. I got about 6 coats on there before the can ran out.

And It looks better and holds up pretty well (even though only the driver door is ever used )

Another shot

^^ C'mon don't be mean.. Perhaps he´s working on a budget... Not everyone got the time and money to do stuff in a single time.

Myself I would not install the down skirts if they weren't painted already the same color as my car... Other than that the car doesn't look rice. Besides FPR is one of the best colors for the TL!

Not to be mean, but I think it looks rice especially with the poor carbon fiber wrap all over the place. Even though you are working on a budget doesn't mean you should pull the trigger on everything that you can do.

I do agree that if I had a lip kit, I wouldn't have put it on especially if it's not color matched.

The only good ideas I picked up from this thread are painting the door latches to make em look brand new and this

^^ Agree the carbon fiber wrap was over done everywhere but outside the car doesn't look ricey specially if we just consider the mismatched underskirts.

Thanks guys.

I can agree about the mismatching Side Skirts. In person I think it flows better in person especially at dusk/dawn when the light reflects off of them, and that's not to say I will never get them painted.

And yea the carbon fiber is a bit overdone and have taken it off of that mirror on the outside and a few places on the inside. But its not everywhere just on the shift gate, strips on the hood, gauges and covering the oxidized B-pillars.

I am pretty sure I am not a noob as I have done every little thing including mounting/ balancing road forcing my rims and tires, doing all maintenance and brake replacements, all bolt ons, and only had a shop help with the pulley and the Mid muffler (because I could not access my tools at the time) with my own hands.

Just because I wanted to see what my car looked like with a lip kit and decided to keep it for the odd day of the week that I drive, or that I liked the carbon fiber and dared to do a bit more than most, does not qualify me for a noob

Thank-you-very-much.

I did not comment on the lip. That sir is the BEST mod you did to the car. As far as the rest of the SHIT you did. It speaks for its self.

Get bent man.

You are the only one bad mouthing my car without ever having posted yours.

And as for the shit that speaks for itself, please tell me what does. Is it the rims because god knows I am the only one with a horrible set of after market ones. Was it the brakes? I guess I should have stuck with the OEM's huh? Or the pulley, because the car was designed to be fast enough and that detracts from the purity of the car. And that MidMuffler was pointless as well because my tips aren't big enough to show for that sound and everybody else is doing that with the big cans and I should do it right or not even bother. Or was it those stickers? Because once they are on it ruins the look forever and they cant be taken off and anyone that dares to put anything temporary on their car to see how it looks should be banished from car shows and no longer told their car is any good and 'rice' because god knows its a stupid idea to put on heavy rubber from a spray-can, in vibrante or Matte colours on your car.

Please tell me what spoke for itself so that I may correct it for your all knowing approval. I bet you are willing to tell me that Fsatty's car is 'Rice' because why would you fit Audi lights on a TL? His car is ruined and worthless now too.

And I'll be sure to ask you before I do anything to my car as your opinion on what is rice or not, is correct and I am not doing it right apparently. Thank you great and mighty Fracas for showing me the light.

And if that fantastic Texas Education has taught you how to read more things than the bible you should look into these articles and maybe you know....

^Chill out man, he's making some unique decisions on his car but if he likes it that's all that matters. He's having fun with his car, no need to be a dick about it

That was the first time I had ever tried it. There is also a learning curve to those things and what I have now is better because of it.
Its also off of my car now if that makes you feel better ( I did mention it in my post, if you could read them thoroughly.)

But oh well its ok guys I am not going to discuss this anymore, because I graduated High School and left teenage drama behind as well.

Apart from the small cons pointed out here due to the paint flaking and all, i still agree that it is indeed a very unique idea. Done at home yourself and its not bad at all. That's awesome.

Thanks and Oh yea!

I got that rear bumper resprayed. Turned out OK but I see some small bubbles and 2-3 small string things. Didn't seem like their clean room wasn't all that clean I have to post some pics of it.

Oh man so this post is hard to make after my last post was about my rear bumper finally being fixed after the respray.

So I was out at the local college bar, and like I usually do I park far away and was at the end of the lot and went in

Afterwords I was leaving and went to leave, I decided against driving and followed my friend to his house doing the responsible thing and not driving 'should anything possibly go wrong and I mess up my car even a little bit.'

So later on that night I went to go back to my car to get something and I come back to see this:

I picked up every little piece that you see there on the ground and took a whole bunch of pics. I even took one of the tires leaving thinking I was going to do some CSI stuff and identify the guy based on the tires

After this I had to just leave it as there wasn't much I could do right then and there.

I came back in the morning to look at it better and it didnt get better:

This guy must have been going pretty fast! I mean I moved at least a foot here!

And even here I slid forward into the snow bank that I parked away from, you know to avoid getting scratches on my front bumper

And even my trunk is all messed up

This Is my heart you guys

'tis broken

Unhappy

I mean look at it!

I pulled into the Parking that I have at my apartment and looked at everything some more and noticed that the alignment of things are off.

IDK if it was me but does this seem at an odd angle :

And I found this and have no idea how it happend

I think it was hit soo hard that it hit the car next to me

And just another shot of the trunk

And the trunk that it doesnt quite sit into all that nice now

Man that sucks bro. You're going to fix it? I hate when cars get hit in the rear! Just discourages me to the point I don't want it anymore

OUCH... Sorry to see that dude.. I don't believe the doors are miss aligned probably you didn't noticed before cuz to that to happend it would need a more serious hit since the nerf bar absorbs much of the hit.

Now to REPAIR DUDE! the Phoenix shall raise again!.

... if you still happen to read this, try a >>free<< rear muffler(s) delete first. simply bolt off both rears. you really get to see what big heavy pieces of junk they truly are & the car actually sounds great -- better than some actual mufflers. i ran like that for about a month before full custom catback, & my 2.5" piping to vibrant resonator to 2 borla xr1's actually doesn't sound any better imo. not worse, just different. if my current setup sounded exactly like just the 2 rear muffler deletes i would be 100% happy/satisfied.

But hey guys alooot has happened since my last update! (Switchback's / LED's / Wheels / other minor things)

OHHH!!!!!

I finally got my rear bumper painted!

But the current one I am working on is the CL Seat Swap.

Detailed here:

Name: CLSeatSwap-23_zps1eeed4a9.jpg
Views: 63
Size: 80.1 KB

Looks Sweet!

Still have a bend in them so leg room is not impacted too much (Seats are only marginally thicker overall)
Name: CLSeatSwap-3_zpsd022a984.jpg
Views: 77
Size: 53.0 KB

The only issue is that the 2 door has a handle that moves the seat forward for rear the passengers and it impacts the B-Pillar and kind of kinks the seat inwards a bit

Name: CLSeatSwap_zpsf062fc71.jpg
Views: 89
Size: 55.5 KB

And this is how much it kinks in comparatively

Name: CLSeatSwap-2_zps870dc9a9.jpg
Views: 109
Size: 58.4 KB

So Lets take them out and see what I did! Because I just put them in originally as a test fit. And it worked out pretty good!

So front bolts here at the bottom:

Name: CLSeatSwap-4_zps95dbab17.jpg
Views: 73
Size: 38.7 KB

And the rear

Name: CLSeatSwap-5_zps43e0248d.jpg
Views: 59
Size: 56.1 KB

And when you move it to the front to get to the rear
Name: CLSeatSwap-6_zps03d7a944.jpg
Views: 77
Size: 75.2 KB

Make sure you move it back to the middle when you remove it so the rail isn't all out of proportion and when you have them in your living room and your biggest friend comes over and then flattens the rail that sticks out because you were excited about the seats and wanted him to sit in them too long and then flattened them and your heart

Name: CLSeatSwap-7_zps6f9d1c1a.jpg
Views: 73
Size: 58.8 KB

Then lift up
Name: CLSeatSwap-8_zps96f9d1ce.jpg
Views: 107
Size: 63.5 KB

So extremely luckily I had a 2003 TL and got some seats from a 2003 CL so then everything literally was plug and play for the driver seat

Name: CLSeatSwap-9_zps4717fd99.jpg
Views: 66
Size: 60.0 KB

Disconnected:
Name: CLSeatSwap-10_zps2f83f383.jpg
Views: 94
Size: 57.3 KB

And now is the part where you Scratch your Steering wheel and fandangle them out (somehow )

And Viola! And boom you find a mountain range of coins and this is the only mod that you can actually make you money!

Name: CLSeatSwap-11_zps4a88faf9.jpg
Views: 59
Size: 78.7 KB

And now even YOU can live the hella flush life in your car!
Name: 20140907_124947_zps718ead49.jpg
Views: 70
Size: 62.0 KB

So now we can clean!
Name: CLSeatSwap-12_zps0b31ed5f.jpg
Views: 65
Size: 71.4 KB

I used the leather wipes first and then applied the cleaner with the pad. Then applied the conditioner, rubbed in with the brush and then cleaned again and then condition again until your hands wont work any more.

So while I had the CL seats in my car and I noticed that the seatbelts don't quite fit into the CL and the designs are different.
Name: 20140906_114139_zpsd4ed6247.jpg
Views: 60
Size: 93.7 KB

It appears that the connections and wires are all different and so I got a better look:
Name: CLSeatSwap-16_zps6823b50a.jpg
Views: 63
Size: 76.8 KB

and another confirmation pic

Name: CLSeatSwap-15_zps12ca588c.jpg
Views: 64
Size: 76.0 KB

But the Connector pis are the same and plug right in

Name: CLSeatSwap-17_zps2079d75e.jpg
Views: 89
Size: 61.0 KB

Another pic just in case

Name: 20140906_114139_zpsd4ed6247.jpg
Views: 60
Size: 93.7 KB

And as for the wiring on the passenger seat I had to rewire it all!

Used the wiring diagrams that FSTTYMS posted in this thread here (link)

Name: 20140907_002539_zps246e2f01.jpg
Views: 118
Size: 67.9 KB

Name: 20140907_002553_zps062c81b9.jpg
Views: 58
Size: 70.1 KB

I will also post the 'repinning' that I did later on. I only had to do the passenger because the seats came from a 2003 CL and I had a 2003 TL. (just pure luck)

So do try Lexol and it worked great!
I took this comparison picture and though it didnt show up that well the differences were really obvious

Name: CLSeatSwap-22_zpsf0acc6d3.jpg
Views: 60
Size: 42.9 KB

Also

This was the mods that I did to break in my new place! lol

Name: CLSeatSwap-13_zps569b9f42.jpg
Views: 67
Size: 74.4 KB

Look at that! Forget a center stage TV (we couldnt afford it anyway) lets get a ZR1 Wheel!

Roommate works at brembo so we got a bit of Manly man decoration going

Name: CLSeatSwap-14_zps66a88bb9.jpg
Views: 60

Yay!!

So Yea, Ill post more info as it develops!

But currently I am having an issue with the SRS light (yes Ill check the DIY to figure out how to reset it and see if it goes away)

And the Seatbelt light not going away even when I plug it in (Driver's side issue only, as I unplugged the passenger side and light was still on )

And the Heat is not going up all the way in the Driver side CL seat to the back (going to probably rewire them using that $3 thread!

And this is how much it kinks in comparatively

So Lets take them out and see what I did! Because I just put them in originally as a test fit. And it worked out pretty good!

So front bolts here at the bottom:

Size: 38.7 KB

And the rear

Name: CLSeatSwap-5_zps43e0248d.jpg
Views: 91
Size: 56.1 KB

And when you move it to the front to get to the rear

Size: 75.2 KB

Make sure you move it back to the middle when you remove it so the rail isn't all out of proportion and when you have them in your living room and your biggest friend comes over and then flattens the rail that sticks out because you were excited about the seats and wanted him to sit in them too long and then flattened them and your heart

Then lift up
Name: CLSeatSwap-8_zps96f9d1ce.jpg
Views: 145
Size: 63.5 KB

So extremely luckily I had a 2003 TL and got some seats from a 2003 CL so then everything literally was plug and play for the driver seat

Disconnected:

Size: 57.3 KB

And now is the part where you Scratch your Steering wheel and fandangle them out (somehow )

And Viola! And boom you find a mountain range of coins and this is the only mod that you can actually make you money!

And now even YOU can live the hella flush life in your car!

Size: 62.0 KB

So now we can clean!
Name: CLSeatSwap-12_zps0b31ed5f.jpg
Views: 66
Size: 71.4 KB

I used the leather wipes first and then applied the cleaner with the pad. Then applied the conditioner, rubbed in with the brush and then cleaned again and then condition again until your hands wont work any more.

So while I had the CL seats in my car and I noticed that the seatbelts don't quite fit into the CL and the designs are different.

It appears that the connections and wires are all different and so I got a better look:
Name: CLSeatSwap-16_zps6823b50a.jpg
Views: 85
Size: 76.8 KB

and another confirmation pic

Name: CLSeatSwap-15_zps12ca588c.jpg
Views: 64

But the Connector pis are the same and plug right in

Name: CLSeatSwap-17_zps2079d75e.jpg
Views: 58

Another pic just in case

Name: 20140906_114139_zpsd4ed6247.jpg
Views: 60
Size: 93.7 KB

And as for the wiring on the passenger seat I had to rewire it all!

Used the wiring diagrams that FSTTYMS posted in this thread here (link)

Size: 70.1 KB

I will also post the 'repinning' that I did later on. I only had to do the passenger because the seats came from a 2003 CL and I had a 2003 TL. (just pure luck)

So do try Lexol and it worked great!
I took this comparison picture and though it didnt show up that well the differences were really obvious

Ok so I noticed this a while ago, but thought I would post so that I can reassure I'm not the only one.

Does anyone else see that the seats are A-symmetrical?

I like how you have a sock warmer in your living room but then go barefoot in the car.

Hey guys so its been quite a while since my last update but I have alot of news to share with you!

since that whole accident thing....

But first lets get the bad out of the way, since I got my rear end in I had ran around with the bumper in silver because I bought on off of the dear AV6 Tranny Guru 666Worker!

Before then I had been rolling around drifter style:

(yes I did wash, and wax behind here, just trying to prevent rust I guess )

And this was what it looked like with his bumper and trunk ( this was the trunk that I got with the lip kit, that ended up being useful )

Name: 20140330_134353_zpsk0rnndys.jpg

Then I found a TL at an LKQ and was able to get the trunk and bumper from, turns out it was a 2002 whose red was only slightly different. Bringing me to the Pagani-like Special Edition TL we have here:

But anyway... on to the mods and good news!

I had been on the look out for some A-Spec Wheels and lo and behold I found some that came with original Yokohama AVS-ES 100 tires so they were brand new and very fresh! Guy had them in storage from the original car because he didn't like the tires! (guess he didn't know you could switch the tires out or something?)

Putting them on it was soo wide!

The Offset is on point as well

I agree with everyone who says its the best OEM wheel for these cars
