G 35 Sedan handling
G 35 Sedan handling
I drove 2005 Infiniti G35 auto Sedan, 280HP. Perfect car, no questions about the handling, and power, but I love my TL-S. What I wanted to ask, how can I match my 2003 TL-S to match the handling, without loosing ride quality, don’t want to be like those dudes on Jet Skies. I wanted good handling without bumpy ride. What is the most cost effective way and any links please, thanks a lot people.
TLS vs G35 Handling
I own an 02 TLS. A buddy owns an 03 G35 without the handling package.
We traded cars for a few hours and went for a ride. Under hard acceleration, the G35 drifted outside it's track. I suspect it was due to torque oversteer. Several times during the ride, under hard acceleration I found myself entering the center line and had to correct the steering. It is alarming during turns.
My TLS's handling has none of those characteristics. In fact, steering and tracking is rock solid neutral providing a confident driving experience.
My TLS handles like a formula 1 car while the G35 handles more like a Detroit muscle car. I'll take smooth rocket speed over torque anyday.
A few months later, my buddy sideswiped another car on the freeway. I wonder if torque pulling had anything to do with it?

I have Neuspeed Strut Bar and Comptech Sway. My TLP feels tighter the first turn after I installed the rear sway. People say Strut Bar does not make any difference but I can notice the car much tighter up front after I installed Neuspeed.
There is a CL member has H&R spring and Bilstein shock on his type S. Ride quality is similiar to type S stock but better handling.
I will find out this weekend when I try to install H&R 50103 and Bilstein on my TLP

BTW, Bilstein has a lifetime warranty. Both H&R and Bilstein products are made in German and not outsourced manufacturing to China (not yet)

do they fit each other?
But I got a message from allshocks.com
It says that the shocks for the CL and TL are not interchangeable, and
Bilstein does not currently make any shock for the 2002 Acura TL.

ou sig, you can pm NiteQwill to double check but here is what he posted about part #, that is the same I got.
"Slimey: The Bilstein Sports are made to fit the 98-02 Accord V6. Don't get the 4cyl version (I believe there is a check digit added to the end of the part number) as they may blow due to different specs for gas compression and rebound.
Here are the Part Numbers:
Front: BE5-6580-H0
Back: BE5-6581-H0"

I also own a 2003 TL-S and my girlfriend owns a 2003 G35 coupe.
I've driven both for quite some time and on occasion have taken both on to the Pomona track to mess around with.
Just a few things really.
I don't know what suspension package you have but my TL-S does not handle like a formula 1 car. I have a 1994 RX-7 Twin turbo as well (and it has a complete aftermarket suspensions and engine setup) and I'm going to be bold and say even that car doesn't handle like a formula 1 car.
As for the Torque oversteer, I never really had any issues with the g35 and oversteer. Remember that in turning the goal is: to draw the perfect line, breaking prior to the turn, entering at the fastest speed your car can handle, and then accelerating about halfway through the turn (i would suggest even later than that about 70% into the turn). If you gun the acceleration entering and during the turn.. well duh.. that'll make any car lose control. Try it in our TL-S and you'll see what I mean.
As for making a TL handle like a G35 and still maintain the comfort ride... I don't think it's possible even with aftermarket suspension set ups. It's just one of those advantages a RWD has over a FWD.
But I love my TL-S over the G35. Why? Because its my car. LoL. Besides, a TL isn't really a sports car, its a luxary sedan. A TL-S is a step up and it's a Sporty Luxury Sedan, but even then it's not a true Sports car. I have an RX-7 for the days when I feel like being sporty, and the TL-S for days when I want to cruise in luxury.
Start with a Sway bar and see how you like it.
I have koni adjustables and I like them because I can adjust the ride quality/handling in an instant.
If you decide in the future that you want a true sports car with superb handling, and you want to keep with the Acura name brand, go for the NSX. Although the RX-7 Twin Turbo out classed the NSX in almost every category.
Even still, if I ever get the cash to get an NSX, I'm definitely gonna get one.
