Question Funny New Car Smell or What the Hell is Burning?

Wondering if someone could tell me about thier new car experience with regards to what the hell is cooking under the hood. As far as the interior is concerned, Yup, its that new car smell. After driving the car like a senior citizen and watching the world go by, I get home and I smell some wierd fumes coming out of the car. Its wierd, and me not knowing what it is I am hopeing it is some type of coating or grease...or???

It doesn't smell like burnt oil or tranny fluid...

Any of you guys expierence this?

New cars always exhibit strange "burning" smells. It could any of a variety of things. I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it doesn't go away after a short while or you see flames

I just got my new TLs last week and had the same smell. My dealer told me to expect it the first few days and it is some sort of coating on the bottom of the car that puts out this smell first couple of days. Can't remember the name of the coating but dealer did give me a heads up.

I had a little burning smell but I think it was because I forgot to take off the parking brake when driving it off the dealer lot. I was wondering why it seemed so sluggish.

turn off the Air Con unit before drive hard...it may aviod the smell...

i agree that it's the rust coating that leaves a weird smell...or maybe it's the leather coating...it will be out soon...

Hmmm...thanks for the info.. I keep my nose out to see if the smell goes away or not...Actually I don't smell it inside the car. I smell it after I park the car in the garage and close the garage door.
