Question Functional differences between an Ice Box & AEM

Curiosity killed the cat but here goes....

What are the functional differences between an Ice Box & CAI.
Is the basic principal the same...cold air induction?

How come one is quieter than the other at high RPM?
Why does one produce more HP and torque over the other?
What are the price differences?
Do you comprimise gas consumption when using an Ice box or AEM type CAI?

Thx

AEM is an open element cone filter...it is exposed to the rest of the engine. The icebox is a cone filter that sits inside an airbox looking enclosure with some plumbing form the bottom so air can come inside. The icebox has some insulation so that the air going into the engine isn't affected by the heat the engine generates. This airbox looking enclosure kills some of the sound you would get from an open element filter.

the airbox middle pipe piece also has this little box that comes down from it.....im guessing that this lowers the sound of the intake.
