Talking Fun with Paint

I thought I'd get in touch with my creative side so I bought some automotive lacquer which matched my car. What do you think?

I was thinking of doing the outer frame of my engine cover too and leaving the center silver.

Any suggestions.

Looks Good! Adam, too bad my car is black, no need to paint the interior, everything matches already.

Looks real good. How did you get the paint that matched your TL?

Actually all the auto shops had only the Plasti-kote Brand and they had every color for Acura EXCEPT Firepepper Red. I took two of the closest colors and brought the can out to my car. The match was #8137 but I had to put on 6 coats to lighten it the rest of the way since the components were black. You could also use gray primer to lighten it without using so many coats.

I don't know if you guys can tell but the bracket on the left side is darker cuz I ran out of paint.

Very nice adamyankee! Good job!
I'm thinking of painting my battery cover and engine cover also (just the black surrounding the silver but not the part with the VTEC logo). One of our members Big Monkey did his in white last year and it looks really good too. '99 engine covers are cool Now I have to do my strut bar. That's a nice shade of red InspireFreak. Nice custom work men!

Hey! Lookin good man! Do you think maybe you should've sanded the upper strut bar? Wonder what color I should paint mine... silver might look funny... what do you think?

I actually worked it up slightly with Steel Wool, but I put it on too dry, so it looks a little rough. I am going to compound it and see if I can shine it up. If not I'll put clear coat on it.
