harddrive based are not teh best to get if you are going to do the conversion, depending on how much that ends up going for it might be worth it for the other parts. I wouldn't pay over 300 for that. I got the nav unit, dash cluster(with hazzard button) and ac unit for just 240 shipped off ebay, the dvd unit for 180 shipped from car-parts.com and i didn't need the factory radio. then misc. brackets and bolts from the dealer for around 60.

 

If you're buying this stuff from scratch there's no point in buying the hard drive based unit used in the 1999 TL. It can only handle the map data for limited regions of the US and they haven't released updated map data since 2002.

Look for one of the DVD units used in the 2000-2003 TLs.

 

Yeah stay away from the hard drive system.
