Question Full exhaust

Ok, has anyone out there done a full exhaust system?? I'm not talking about this axle-back junk that I have, but a full exhaust overhall?? (cat-back and or removing / replacing the cat).

I want more power, but I've heard rumors that changing the exhaust will not create more......my mechanic highly disagrees. Please, if anyone has done an exhaust system, please respond and let me know if it was worth it?!?!

Thanks,
Ed

comptech is going to release a b-pipe in the near future. therefore making the axleback into a catback (dont quote me on that).

True. The gains of a full cat-back exhaust system will only provide you with only 5-7 HP, and that is only at high RPM. The reason for this (not 100% sure though - sombody chime in if this is not true) is that our factory exhaust is already maximized for optimum performance. The only benefit of exhaust is just for the looks and the sound. However, if you are thinking about removing the catalytic converter, then that is a different story. In theory, you should gain a few more HP if you remove the cat. If you want more HP, the best gain for the money is headers and intake. Exhaust doesn't seem really worth it considering how much $ you have to spend. And BTW, removing the cat is illegal. If you get caught, expect to pay a hefty fine.

Our factory exhaust (like all stock exhaust systems) is highly restrictive.Adding a full cat-back exhaust would increase airflow therefore increasing hp.Not that much though.Getting a high-flow cat to replace the stock one would be a better choice than straight thorugh piping.

what about increasing the piping size? stock's tiny... I'm thinking about doing a custom 2 and a half inch from the cat, and of course, I'll hollow out the cat... 2.5" from the cat to the mufflers, so I have to do the y pipe... technically since it splits into 2 smaller diameter, the back pressure's maintained, so the torque's still there, but by hollowing out the cat and up the piping size, should provide more hp at high RPM.

My exhaust piping size is 2.25" and those are the Tanabe Hypers. I feel a pretty good difference in my honest opinion. Though my exhaust is pretty loud, its deepness makes up for it. So I don't mind at all...I love this exhaust and I would never give it up for any Axle-back

I never said it was that loud where it rattles the dashboard. It is only loud where you can hear it clearly inside the car. It is pretty loud, but not that loud...I had a exhaust on my accord that was that loud and I hated it after a while.

Most muffler shops do custom exhaust piping. So even if you only get the axle back mufflers you can complete your exhaust by getting custom cat-back piping.I would go no more than 2 3/4in though.
