Hey guys, how common are fuel leaks on our TL?

Just hit 210k and found a small fuel leak under the car by the tank. The odor of fuel is quite noticeable. Not quite sure where its coming from, maybe a fuel line or hose?

If anyone can point me towards the right direction on what to look for it would help a ton. Going to take it in to my mechanic this coming week and want to make sure we're all on the same page so I don't get ripped off.

Could be that you overfilled the tank ? Maybe the filler tube or vent line ?
Hopefully not a punctured gas tank !!!! Try to isolate the leaking area and don't smoke.

I've been noticing the odor for a while could just never pinpoint it. I'm hoping its not a punctured tank. I dropped it off today at the shop after work.

I'll see what they have to say tomorrow hopefully nothing too expensive

On another note: started looking for used cars around 10-12k. Just can't find anything as comfortable as my TL for that price. Might just end up buying an 02/03 type s and swapping some of my parts over!

 

Repairing the fuel leak would be much more cost effective than a car payment, IMO !!!!

 

Problem Fixed. Punctured fuel tank replaced.

 

How much did you pay to get the fuel tank replaced?
