Fuel injector cleaners??

What do you folks think of using those bottles of fuel injector cleaners from Valvoline, STP, Techron, etc? From what i understand, today's gas contains all the necessary cleaners that our cars would need. So is using these products is just money down the drain?

thnks

I don't know how well they work but I use NOS brand fuel injector cleaner every oil change just to be safe. It's only like $6 anyways.

I use Shell -- been getting "perfect" gas there for years.

However, just to be "safe", I put in a bottle of Techron from Chevron into my gas tank twice a year.

Who knows...

i've heard the same thing...that those fuel injector cleaners are a load of crap...those pictures you see of a clogged injector spewing out droplets while you get the most amazing plume of fuel after using their products...please!

i'd rather have RC Engineering take them out and do a real clean before i used one of those ridiculously priced fancy shmanzy bottles of marketing BS...

ON my older car I had the same thing done -- they would actually pull the injectors and run cleaner through the rail. They do get a bit funky after enough miles (keep a car for close to a decade and send me another message)

BTW -- they didn't look like that pathetic ad with drips falling out of the injectors -- the spray pattern just looked a bit "off"...

I would stay away from NO-NAME gas stations. In the "old days", I had more than one encounter with tainted gas (Once leaving Los Vegas and the other in Los Angeles -- we're talking sputtering here!!!)
