Hi Everyone I have 2 questions to ask you pro's!

I have a 2002 Acura TL type S
Silver with Black Leather

Questions:

1.when I fill the car up with fuel/gas, I always like to top it right off not right full so the fuel/gas runs all over the body and right to the ground, like we have seem alot of people do, my question here is when I filled the tank up the fuel gauge shows always just below the Full mark, I own a 2000 Chevy Vet and a 1989 Toyota 4x4 pick-up truck and when I fill these two cars up the fuel gauge always shows the full is over the full mark.

Is that normal?

1.when I have the sunroof closed is squeeks and drives me nuts and again is that a normal thing?

1) I would have to look closer, but I don't remember my needle every going over the full marker.

2) This is a known issue, dealer will install tape to fix per a TSB.

I hava a new 2003 type-s and my sunroof squeaks also...I can hear it with the sun cover closed, I'm goint to try to oil the gasket to see it it helps.

i too had the problem with my sunroof on my 2000 tl when i got it back from the dealer it looke like they rubbed vasoline all over the rubber seal? what ever they did it worked. as for the gas gauge my needle goes to the top sideof the full line when full

my fuel needle goes OVER the top of the full line when i fill my tank up. i dont top off either, i just take out the pump when it automatically stops.

Does it stay below F? My tank, when I fill it up, is slow to register being full. It takes a few minutes before it finally settles just above F and starts dropping like normal.

My Fuel Gauge needle goes OVER F as well.. and I, too, don't top off the tank.. and stops fueling after it automatically stops(though many times, I only fill the about 80% of the tank)...

SUNROOF SQUEAK = DEALER KNOWN WARRANTY ISSUE

I posted the following on another site regarding the sunroof squeak. Hope it helps.

I never really had a problem with sunroof noise, shortly after I bought the car I told the dealer that I thought I heard a rattle when the sunroof was open. They applied the teflon tape, even though the TSB refers to the sunroof squeak when it is closed. They apparently didn't do a good job. A few months later, it started peeling and it actually showed when the sunroof was closed. I pulled it off, and for over a year, no noise. That was up until recently.

I was noticing this rubbing/faint squeaking noise when going over very bumpy roads. It almost sounded like leather rubbing together. It took me a while to figure out it was the rubber around the sunroof.

I applied a coat of wax on the inner opening of the sunroof and treated the rubber gasket around the sunroof with Meguiars Vinyl & Rubber conditioner.

Squeak gone!!!!

We'll see how long it lasts, but I prefer it as opposed to having that tape around there.

Just though I'd share.

PS I will be going to the Dealership in the afternoon on Sept,18 2002 and I will let you all know what they did to fix my problems.

My sunroof squeaks, tranny shifts weird, and whole car shakes like I have chopped 36" Thornbirds.

Car only has 4500 miles on it, and is mostly highway driving.

Anyone else have these issues...besides the sunroof (known issue)?

Tranny Shifts weird might have something to do with computer... do you share the car with another person and both of you drive the car regulary?? Tranny might be trying to decide which driving style/pattern to go for as the tranny trying to adapt....

As for whole car shakes... can you describe it more precisely??

I had the roof squeak fixed on my first service, it seems to be holding fine. As for the feul guage it tops a little over the F line.

Hi everyone this is my update

I went to the Dealership on Weds Sept 18 2002

They fixed both of my problems in no time with in a hour

Problem 1 was the squeeking sound of the sunroof, they put some kind of high tech weather strip and some kind of silicon grease/lube on the rubber part of the sunfoof rubber seal, the problem is now solved there is no more squeeks/sound when the sunroof is closed.

Problem 2 was when you fill up with fuel the gas level would be below the full mark, they fixed this problem with replacing the sending unit, that is located in the botton of the trunk, after the tech, replaced it now the level shows way above the full line and thats what I wanted.
