Front Upper Strut Tie-bar

Would this make a big difference to the car performance?

I JUST asked NSXNEXT about this since he has it. He says that it stiffened up the ride and the he felt the difference.

I'm going to do it soon... it's not a bad mod for around $100.... Go for it!

Yup definitely feel that the supsension is stiffer.

I'm not so sure if you don't have sways that it might be harmful. Tightening up the top without the bottom, I don't know.

NSXNEXT, I thought that sways aren't supposed to stiffen up the ride? I thought that was the job for springs?

i think the tie-bar is more to reduce flexing, while the sways reduce the leaning when in a turn (that's why they're called anti-sway or anti-roll bars).

i had the tie bar on first ('cuz it's a 10 min. installation anyone with a socket wrench can do), and got the sways a couple days later.

i couldn't tell if the tie bar helped at all (by the way, i have a cl-s that has a factory tie-bar already there...the neuspeed one installed right next to it), but the comptech sways are A MUST! the car is SOOO much tighter around turns. after a day, you start to take turns and curves faster without even thinking about it.

Should it make a difference if I still have stock wheels and tires on my TL for now? I have the Comptech sways and they make a tremendous amount of difference. Will the upper tie bar make noticeable difference with the stock bar already there? Should I wait until I get new wheels (probably a while away)?

Thanks,
Peter.

I say go for the wheels also. I don't think the nuespeed strut brace really provides any additional support that the factory bar does not already. Our factory bar is ties in at the firewalls also with 4 12mm bolds/nuts.

The upper strut bar will help a lot once you get wider tires. Wider tires put more stress on the upper strut mounts, so wait till everything else is in.

i got the neuspeed bar just on principle...there was a deal at carparts.com for about $80 (including shipping) for first time buyers.

unfortunately, i guess they were having problems (some people got pissed they didn't recieve their bars on promised dates, etc.) and carparts.com was bought by jc whitney or something.

but if anything, go with the sways first. there's no change in ride comfort (as there shouldn't be...sways only make a difference when taking a turn/curve), and I really think that the stock sways should've at least been this good.

i think it was a safety consideration or something...the car feels so much tighter and turns and curves can be taken faster, and the car has more of a tendency to oversteer, so i guess they put in just what was sufficient (safe) for most drivers.

i was patient, so i got mine about a month after ordering it from carparts.com

but then again, i was in ks and couldn't install the thing until 1.5 months later anyway, so it all worked out!

now hold your Chihuahua, I thought the TL already has a front upper tie bar. It might not look that thick, but I think it does it's job well. I would prefer adding one at the back if any. Don't you guys think so. Why waste money if you have the stuff already except the other looks better, right?
