it's illegal not to have it on. no it's not okay to put it on the dash under the windshield. i just got a ticket two weeks ago for no front plate

got a ticket for not having a front license plate. got a fix-it ticket. the ticket requires an inspection and sign-off from an authorized enforcement center such as CHP or a local police station. paid $10 for administrative court fees. be warned, if you have anything else illegal on the car depending on the agency, they might write another citation; CHP officer cited me for illegal front tints which had nothing to do with the ticket. just my bad luck.

it's legal not to have it on unless you get caught . if you are going to put the plate on the dashboard, might as well put it on the bumper. plates on dashboard looks 10X stupid
