a on front grill

if i get a jdm h for the front grill will i need the whole new grill or can i put the H where the a is on my stock grill

No ... you'll need 3 parts.

The chrome "H"
the chrome piece that surrounds the "H" and runs horizontally
the backing that the "H" and chrome piece goes on
