Front end conversion?!

Can you put a 01 front end on a 99 TL? I'm pretty sure that I would have to change headlights and bumper cover but what about the hood?

you would need to change the hood too.. the 02-03 hood and grill are 2 separate pieces.. whereas the 99-01 grill is part of the hood.

So trying to sell the car, taking out the loan on a new car would be cheaper and easier than buying just the parts? How about someone with the cr paid off? Searching for used parts this project could be done for 1k or less with out paint. Much cheaper than buying a new car.

dude im all about the 02-03 front end! if it can be done for a grand im there!!!
but getting the fenders and bumper painted by itself would almost cost that much! Unless you have a color that never changed between 99-03. maybe like SSM or NBP, but definately not Monterey blue or firepepper red etc etc.

plus it would be alot of physical work, hours and hours, UNLESS you pay someone to do it, once again $$$$$$$$.

i read a thread on here from someone who did it and stated it would cost nearly 5 grand.

i think if it could be done for approx 2 grand alot more people would have done it. but what do i know.

but all that being said, shi... i hope your right!!!

^^ I think swapping out hood, fenders, bumpers headlights can be a DIY, just need patient and time.

Got a PM about this recently, this was my reply:

Hi!

Off the top of my head, you need:

-bumper + foam that goes behind it + the whole bumper beam has to be raised by like an inch.
-left/right fenders
-headlights
-headlights brackets
-headlights/rad plastic cover
-parking lights harness has to be modified to accomodate the extra bulb.
-HID ballast will not mount to the new headlights so they have to be mounted elsewhere.
-hood + hood latch has to be modified/custom mounted.
-hood insulator (if you want it, not necessary)
-grille
-windwhield washer nozzles
-radiator supports need some work i think
-fog lights+wiring (if you want 'em)

That's pretty much what I can remember right now!

Then you need to make everything fit good, get the parts painted and align them on the car, etc.

Not an afternoon project!

looks dope with the empty fog slots. i dont think it'd be worth the trouble and effort unless you got into a front end collision or something. i mean even if it was only 1000, which is pretty much stealing parts and painting it in magic marker. you'd still be able to get intake, headers, spacers and god knows what. or a set of springs and shocks.

most people dont even realize the difference between them. i parked my 99 next to my cousin's 03-S and she couldnt tell the difference, swear to god.

If you take the time and search for the parts you can find them for 1k.
Install. Take the time and do it yourself. If you want to save money on it do the work yourself. Your right it will cost probably close to 1k for the paint. I never said otherwise. Physical work???? Its swapping out car parts, not building a skyscraper. Yea if you pay someone to do it, it will be costly, but there is nothing about it other than the paint that one that's WILLING to try couldnt do in the driveway in a long weekend project.

Well, you actually need a welder to raise the bumper beam... And tools to make your own brackets for the hood latch.

That could be done by the body shop thats doing the painting. Every thing can be installed in the driveway to save money. Most likely the bumper would be off any way to paint.
