Just found out I need to replace my front ball joints. Is it possible to do it yourself and how would i do it if it is?

 

It should be straight forward task. Buy or loan a balljoint remover, and a 36mm socket for the front axle nut. The axle nut is very tight so you will need a breaker bar to help leveraging the force.

 

how did you verify that your balljoints were in need of replacement?

 

torn boots, play in them, clunking noise going over bumps

 

An Acura dealership next to my house told me i need to replace it, and i do hear a noise when i turn on the right side. Also, kind of unrelated, but recently my car began to hesitated a lot more than usual, sometimes i would press the gas for like 2 seconds and the car would not respond then it would jerk and go. I heard that it could be the computer or my trani is about to go, does anyone know what it could be?

 

How long have you changed the fluid? Try to drain and refill and see if it makes any difference.

 

i change the trani fluid about 15,000 miles ago. Before that I waited longer to change it and the car was running fine. Sometimes I hear a "clank" right before the car jerks.
