frequent transmission oil change

Need your advice, folks... Last time I changed transmission fluid, it was at 60k service. Not long ago I noticed that they overfilled it (about 1/4" over the max). So I am going to ask them to change transmission fluid at next oil change (a week from now) and make sure not to overfill. This is my third (counting original) transmission, so I'm understandingly paranoid about it. My question - is there any harm in changing fluid that often (except to my wallet )? I read somewhere that frequent changes isn’t a good idea (with no explanation why).

Changing the trans fluid at the frequency you describe will be fine.

I've read that when a trans hasn't had its fluid change in years or like over 100K miles it's probably not good because the new fluid will start loosening up the crud that's built up and then it may plug the trans fluid filter and cause fluid starvation.

Shoot, I do a trans fluid drain & fill at every oil change just to keep a good fresh charge of fluid in the trans and wipe off the drain plug magnet.

Yeah, I would say that every 15-20K miles should be good.. They recommend every 30K, but our cars are not normal, in the sense of the faulty trans..

What type of Trans fluid are guys using. Just the regular Honda ATF? Redline? If so, what type of Redline fluid is being used?

I thought that the trans drain takes out about 4/4 1/2 quarts.. It's hard to believe that it's only 9.00 for all 4/4 1/2 quarts of AFT fluid??

It seems to range between 2.9 and 3.1 qts., so it's not that much. After I do the d&f, the level is right at the upper mark on the dipstick. BTW use the real Honda ATF-Z1, these newer Honda/Acura transmissions seem to prefer it.

That's it, I was thinking of dumping the pan, then you would use 4-4 1/2 quarts.. not just "pulling the plug"..
