Fram EZ oil change Gizmo

I was at Walmart picking up some Mobil 1 0-20W for my 1st change and wanted to get the M1-105 filter but Walmart doesn't carry it. Rats!! Anyway, I saw this Fram EZ change plug where there is a permanent plug that has a spring loaded cap that replaces the standard drain plug. To change the oil, you just screw on the drain hose. No getting your hands dirty. Has anyone tried this gizmo?

Also, can we order M1-filters online from somewhere? I can't seem to find em here in the SF East bay. Someone said they use Puralator oil filters, how good are these? Thanks,

I found the filter at auto barn, if they don't have one of those out there, try auto zone, I think they carry it. I know Pep boys, AIDS Auto, and auto zone not carry them. I drove every where one day to find it.

I had a Fumoto valve on my WRX (before I sold it). It worked fine. Don't know about the Fram valve though.

Fram suredrain

How much lower down do these things (fram suredrain & fumoto (never heard of it)) hang from the oil pan than the regular plug? I'm concerned that 1. they will scrap on something and 2 they leak. But I really like the way it looks like it is supposed to work. Thanks,

the way our plug is placed you wont have any clearance issues. i have had one on for around 30k now and it is pretty slick. the only downside is it takes a little bit longer to drain the oil out (not much though) so i would recomend using one if you change your own oil

Fsstyms1, Which one do you have, the Fram or the Fumoto?

I thought AutoZone carries the M1 Filters. Its part of their online shopping catalog. I use K&N Gold Oil Filters myself but might try a M1 just to see if I notice a difference. FYI both K&N and M1 Filters are made by Champion Labs. Probably different specs though. From what I hear K&N has better flow and M1 has better filtering.
