foglights
hello fellow tlers i been driving with broken foglights for some time now (both sides broken cracked from rocks off the freeway) and now one of them is not turning on... so decided to change both of them got quoted by the dealer for the price of 180 each and installation from a local person to put them on for $80 was wondering if any of you knew an aftermarket place where i can get them cheaper or if anyone had a pair to sell. also if anyone had recommendation on different color bulbs was thinking of getting yellow ones and hear pias are good 9006 i guess.. if you all can give me some feed back it would be great especailly on the color of the bulb and how they have turned out...

Max gold were good, but the blew out every so often.... 6 months? Nothing will come close to the yellow of the IS. You can try some of the eurodesinz on ebay which probably arent going to last a year. Max gold gets the best yellow looking at it, the eurodesignz is yellow looking on the road.
Do you have your broken fog light housings? I'll buy them off you.

Do what i did. Like for 55 bucks you can replace the foglight lenses with lexan. Its a very simple DIY. you will not have to worry about cracked lenses ever again. go to ebay & type in a search for lexan foglight & you will find the dude. Do the work yourself. it takes less than 10 min. per light to remove. I can give you more info if needed. I actually had a whole thread on this process, just do a search. good luck!

I did the Lexan mod but it is not sealed all the way. I am waiting for warmer weather here in Ohio to take it apart and replace the silicone to see if I can get it airtight.

I think I didn't have enough silicone on the housing. The first time I put it on I had too much and it seeped out onto the lense so I had to clean it off. It was a bitch to get that sticky shit off and make the lense clean. So when I reapplied the silicone I was too conservative and left a gap in the outside corner. Live and learn I guess. Third time should be the charm.

I got a piece of lexan from home depot. I am going to try cutting it this weekend or earlier if time permits. If that doesnt go well, I buy from that dude too. Hope my dremel is up to the task.

Took me 2 hrs of very patient dremelling to get it right. Be sure to use a saw to hack away as much as you can first (carefully do a trace of the housing) to minimize the Dremel use. Also get the GE silicon II (high temp) to get a good seal.
