Question foglight hid question

i just bought 8000k hid kit for my 03 tl-s fogs and im planning to install them myself and im just wondering if you guys have any tips for me on the installation about things that i should watch out for? and good place to mount the ballast? etc.

and can any body tell me how many bolts and clips there are to remove the bumper? i think there are 2 bolts on each side but not sure. or a link to a diy with pics i couldnt find any in the search.

This must be the 424356633rd thread on HID fogs.

Check the DIY thread. There's a DIY for HID fogs AND bumper removal.

its a bolt at each end and some clips underneath
maybe 5 or so
see new thread by assclown- just installed hid fog setup
your 8000 are for bling only- do not use in fog or rain conditions due to glare

It's in the Intake Resonator DIY.

Two bolts on each side, and many clips on the underside and under the hood.

Bumper removal: 4 bolts (2 8mm where it meets with the fender and 2 10mm down below)
Dunno how many plastic rivets but 4 underneath if you still have em. Then like 8 for the plastic piece above the radiator. 2 little ones hold the grill. Then once big plastic piece is off..2 more rivets holding grill. Then just pull..start on one side..you'll hear a loud pop as it passes the first clip on the side.. it's normal..and work your way around.

Really easy...appears much harder than it really is.

Wouldn't the filter be exposed so you can just take it out and clean it? lol

How did you install the CAI in the first place? (Btw, I also installed my CAI without removing the bumper )

my girlfriend saw the pictures of the front bumper off the car and whatnot and she told me it made her nervous, i was like, it only takes about 2 minutes to take off, and maybe double that to put it on. i had to cut away at the frame to get my foglights to work but that's because i have a 2000. you are fortunate enough to not have to do any fab work, i would recommend finding a hole in the frame to mount the ballasts, as i said in another post, i secured my ballasts with just double back tape and double back tape only (i cleaned the surface with alcohol prior to mounting) and they fell off at some point. so my newer kit has lighter ballasts and they have mount holes, i went to home depot and got some bolts and self locking screws and ran the bolts through holes that are already on the frame so i wouldn't have to do anymore nasty work to my frame. i also used double back tape to make extra sure it's secured... (is that still a navy only term?)

good luck, happy trails

Put the ballast on the frame of the car. Use some 3M tape on 2 sides of the ballast so it really sticks. Then just plug and play.

Good luck!

i used the extra strong double sided tape and put it where the stock ballast for the top HID's is.

once you take off your bumper, theres a bumper support bar that holds the bumper up, well the sides are open so I wrapped up my ballast and shoved them in there. Never have to worry about them. over a year, no problems.
