Post Fog Light - How?

I've seen a number posts here for people who have added PIAA fogs (1700) to their 99 or 00 TL's. I assume the fit in the bumper where the two black blank panels are.

My question is what did you have to get through to mount them? Does it entail taking down the whole bumper? Also I have seen the japan model switch for sale through here - can it be adapted to the PIAA wiring harness.

Help please - out side of memory seats, lack of fogs is what I miss most from my TL!

I had a stereo shop do it for me.

There is a metal piece that's running vertically right behind those two black "fake" fog holes. They took off the bumper and had to cut a small piece of metal from both sides.

Yes, Inspire fog switch can be used in conjunctin with the PIAAs. Ppl said you might need the harness for it.. but I had the guys just solder the wires directly onto the switch and it works.

Hope this helps.

$ 100 bucks for fog install
$ 25 extra for inspire switch install

$ 125 total.

It took them 6 hours to do it. So, it's not an easy thing to do even for the master mechanics. Considering I have no expertise in electronics, I figure it's a good price.

Man, that's alot of $$$ for the foglight install there. Do we really need the foglights? What is there purpose? My HID lights make the road very clear already. I think they are just a waste of money like everything else we spend our money on.

C'mon bdimc, we all know that we don't need fogs with the HID's, but that doesn;t mean we dont want them I think they give the car a nice look, but then again it is a lot of $ to put them in. I have the Inspire switch and am now wondering when I'll actually getthe Piaa's AND when I'll get time to put them in. I don;t NEED them, but I very much WANT fogs...just like all my other mods...except tires and brakes b/c they sucked.

I added the fogs that are OEM for the '95 Subaru Legacy (Projector type). They fill the hole nicely, but I did have to do quite a bit of cutting of metal behind the bumper cover support and the frame cross member. However, you could just remove the metal bolt-on bumper support behind the cover. That is what it in the path of deep fogs more so than the frame cross member.
The fog kit only cost $30.00 since they have been discontinued, and comes with everything. However, fear of wiring something wrong, I went ahead and ordered the Accords A&B wiring harness, relays, and the Inspire switch. One day I'll be able to afford a digital camera to take pixs.

Well, if you want to save the $ and the work involved, you can do it yourself; otherwise $125 is quite fair (if they did a good job).

Since I had no experience on any car modifications, it took me about 3+ hours to install an OEM Civic fog lights. However I found it kind of fun and I installed a CD-changer myself later as well.

With the fog lights on, you'll notice that the road closer to your car is brighter. I think the angle of the fog lights is wider than the regular head lights too.

It's a good investment if you're going to keep the car for many years.

Just my 2 cents.

Get a disposable camera and scan the pics at a copy shop or a Walmart! It would be interesting to see what you did!

I have the PIAA 1700x installed on my 99 TL but not in the "fake" fog holes but in between.

LenVO, I got mine installed in Jersey City at "Professional Sound & Security System" on Grace St. They charged me like close to $200 but only took like 30 minutes to installed. I had no problem close to 2 years now. I know the price might be a little steep. This was when I didn't know of a better place.

But now I go to the one in Belleville called "DCA Motorsport". They are really good and I know a lot of guys who go there for any mods to their cars.

The fogs were connected to a switch they put behind the steering wheel. This was done before I knew about the MDX switch.

As soon as my digital camera comes in, I will post pics of my PIAAs.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I don't. However I think it's time for me to take some pics of the Civic (before I trade it in for a '02 TL-S, my first car. I'll take some pics of the fog and the CD changer I put in.

I'm just so glad to see fog and CD changer in the '02 TL. Those two things are the first thing I put on to the Civic.

Happy TLing.
