fob issue

I just replaced the battery in my keyfob as it was dying and not flashing the red light anymore on the top of the fob. After I replaced it though, the light comes on when i hit the button, but i can't seem to lock or unlock the car...do I need to reset the alarm everytime i replace the battery?

lol...we're everywhere i tells ya...

so i guess i should go and look up the DIY for the alarm reset...anyone else have a problem similar to this? I should also note that with the old battery, it would work from any normal distance, but with a new one, it won't even blink until about 1 foot away...what gives?
