Post Floridians: What do you do for love bug problem?

Hi, everyone. Most of you know the problem we have with "love bugs" in May and September. We also know the destruction they can cause to paint. I wanted to know what works for you in removing them easily. I've been using Meguiars "Quick Detail" daily. Do you do something that works better?

Absolutely. It looks like a lightning bug without the light. They fly -(ahem)- joined together in a rather obscene position, if you get what I mean. Someone introduced them to here a while back in an attempt to reduce the mosquito population. It didn't work and in my opinion the love bugs are now the bigger pest, good for nothing except destroying the paint on your car. They are very acidic and make a big mess besides. Hope this helps.

We've used some of the higher end wax products that contain teflon. You can find many brands at any of the marine supply places. Put the wax on after car is clean. Seems that the splattered bugs don't stick as much so washing off is much quicker.

go to www.topoftheline.com they carry a bug remover and a special spong I put the sponge in the bucket while washing the car (needs to soak for a while), then when finished I take the sponge and put a little of the bug remover on the sponge. I'll fish with a clay bar to get everything off. I do this weekly as I'm a traveling sales pro and it gets really bad.v

@ Don Mealey Acura in Orlando, they offered some kind of protection that they put on. It comes w/ 5 year warranty and protects against acid rain, love bugs, etc... or else they just suckered me for another $500
