This floor jack any good?

In market for a floor jack to ease the little bit stuff I do with my TL. Came across the following one from harbor freight:

http://www.harborfreight.com/floor-j...html?hftref=cj

seems like this will cost $70 on thanks giving.. anyone using this?
Any reviews?

I use a harbor freight Low profile floor jack.
that same brand actually "Pittsburgh"

I opted for the low profile one because my friends are low, and I'm dropped a little less than an inch.

However, I got the steel version.(heavy)
if I were to do it again, I'd get the Aluminum low profile jack.

Hey Cheekoo, yeah a 3 ton is more than enough. Too heavy to put in the trunk.
Actually, you could get by with a good 2 1/2 ton jack......check the aluminum prices !

Look dead center under the front of the car. Look for the front subframe (before the oil pan) and you will see the frame has a dip in it. That is 1 of the lift points.

Technically 1 ton is more than enough. You will never lift the full weight of the car at once and are only lifting a fraction of the weight at any given time

Also, Find one with a lift pad that is large (like 4+ inches) the small ones are crap and will do damage to the factory side lift points and arent as stable.

Get this one:
http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...eel-68049.html

You want to have a higher maximum lift height. That's all that really matters.

I also own this one after my aluminum one took a crap. I had it for more than 5 years so don't get suckered into buying their 2 year warrantee. The reason I went with the steel this time around is because it was cheaper and I didn't haul my aluminum around that much to take advantage of its weight.
Lifting range from 2-3/4" to 20" so it's great for lowered cars. I don't have to drive over a wooden block anymore. it goes right under the lift point in the front even though I'm low with zero gap and I have the aspec kit.

I actually have this one which is only $80

I will bet every jack sold at Habor Freight is Chinese made. The seals in Chinese jacks are know to be shit. Has anyone actually had one that lasted for more than maybe 50 lifts before it started not working?

FYI just stay away from the "racing jacks" from HF. I had one and it leaked big time.
Picked up the same one above (in yellow) and it's been great.

My hf jack lifts good, going down is a different story though. In order to left it down you need to wggle the handle side to side while pushing in and twisting at the same time

That's what I did. I bought the 3-ton model which included a pair of jack stands - have yet to use them. I have used the jack to rotate tires on our MDX (yes it has enough lift) and swap my Summer tires and Winter tires on my TL-S. It is plenty heavy, but I don't put it in my trunk and I'm not lowered, so no worried there.

I have a HF (blue) aluminum low profile one that i use for auto-x ing and Ice racing because its light and easy to transport. Never an issue with it and i have had it for 4+ years now and use it often . My new craftsman jack (about 3 months old) the seals just took a crap on, though i do have a 14+ year old old craftsman that works flawlessly other than a broken handle spring .

Most of the old jacks were American made and the seals lasted much longer. My 2 old American jacks finally gave it up. I've been through 2 Chinese jacks that didn't last 10-15 lifts before crapping.

I'm gonna buy a Habor Freight jack & get the extended warranty. I'll take it home, bleed it if needed and do a leak down test on it. If it leaks down, I'm gonna return it right away and keep trying until I get one that doesn't leak down. From reading reviews on here & HF, it seems like some of them are crap and some of them are OK, it's just a matter of getting a good one.

Then I'm going to return it for a new one before the extended warranty runs out.

Floor jack........A good deal !

Tomorrow is "Turkey Day" , and after that comes BLACK FRIDAY !

Here's the deal : "Craftsman" low profile 2 1/2 ton floor jack #00950165 for the special promo sale price of $34.99 !!!!!!

This is a locally available product at Sears that will serve most all of your needs. I've had an older Sears 3 ton for longer than I can remember, which has served me very well. It'll lift the entire front or rear easily to place jackstands or rotate tires.

But, a few years ago....I bought this smaller 2 1/2 ton for getting under the sides, great jack at a great price ! If you feel you need a warranty, Sears offers those as well. I'm unsure as to the newer Sears jack's quality or durability, as they may very well be built in China alongside the "HF" jacks !

This one has not so great reviews
Seems like it is hit/miss with floor jacks.
