first time @ the track - Cayuga, Hamilton ON

so my friend recently bought a RX-8 and joined the rx-8 club or whatever its called. there was an event at cayuga track in hamilton, ON last week which i decided to go. i took my stock 3.2 TL. at the track some serious rides like the GT-R (which went off track and never started again), carrera s, s2000 and m6 were present. but mostly civics, integras and golfs. there was this one white mazda speed 3 lowered with slicks that just owned the track. In the curves this thing would go WOT and coming out of it in the straight it would just fly. I did a few laps with my TL-P and i did NOT even come close to him. i didn't go WOT in corner because i felt the car would enter a spin with any more throttle. I would floor it once out of the turn but by that time the MS3 was about 100 meters ahead. Only time i came close to him was near the turns but once inside the turn he would leave me in the dust. I did get to his 20-30 meters vicinity on the long straights but that was it. Didn't drive my beamer there because there is no insurance. my friend's rx8 could NOT catch the ms3 either, not to mention porsches and the GT-R falling behind the MS3. i don't know what was in that MS3 but it was way too fast for a 4cyl ecobox. That day i realized that this car needs some serious suspension work and maybe a supercharger. it was my first time there and it just makes you feel so bad about your ride not sure if i want to go again.

oh and there was this horrible accident there just last month of an wrx flipping over all captured:

ya he was fine just shaken a bit. lots of people blame the track for placing a stack of hay at that corner instead of a proper tire wall.

here you go haha

that seems like the track should be paying for that damage....., could would not have flipped if it was not for that hay bail (yes they would have hit the wall, but not flipped though)

and also i am kinda surprise at how a track's insurence, always spectators to get SO close to the action, just imagine if that car had gone over the wall....

edit: also how people got out of their cars, that's normally a big NO-NO at most tracks (with what happens if other cars are still racing on the track)

They make insurance that YOU can get for the track. Its not that expensive. I pay about 20 bucks extra a month for it.

hay bails work just fine too for that, ive seen cars roll from tires as well. Its part of racing. Cant blame the track for that. They are there to protect the car from the concrete. It could have been much much worse for the driver. Thats part of the risk you run for racing. Lets play Devils advocate. Maybe the driver shouldn't have exceeded his limits of the car.

Dont know what your idea of serious suspension work is, but a good set of shocks and springs and sways will really transform the car. Good tires as well. Judging by your pics you are on stock everything including tires which doesnt help.

For what the TL? There isnt a lighter flywheel for it. You have a Auto. Better tires and suspension is what you need before power. Most tracks DONT offer insurance. That you have to get from YOUR insurance company.
