Finished my new custom mesh grill
Well finally got around to finishing my new grill yesterday. Took about a good hour to do in total.
Here's the old grill done by Shoofin'TL, it was the black plastic type. It didn't come out to our liking because it easily rolled up after we put the backing and the chrome frame together.
This is the new metal gutter guard that I bought from Home Depot for about $6.75. It comes in a a 5 pack. It's called the Hinged Premium Gutter Guards, very stiff.
First u have to be able to take apart the grill from the car. There are 5 hex type screws, you need either a wrench, or some type of hex tool to turn it. Take all five off then with a small flathead or phillips screwdriver Push in this little edge. So you can losen the grill from the hood.
Now there are appox. 14-17 phillips head screws that you have to losen before you can take everything apart.
This is the back of the Acura badge, there are two screws there to take out.
This is how to take it apart....

Now that you've taken it apart you gotta put it back together better then before. The only tool that is really required for this part is that you have a
1. metal snip - It's a wire cutting cisor for those that don't know.
You can buy it at any hardware store.
2. 2x strings - You need those to hold the grill in place when your trying to cut it into shape, and also screw the emblem back on to the rear piece first, to help you hold it.
You need to cut grill into shape, it doesn't have to be pefect. One thing you gotta make sure to do is cut out all the tiny holes where the screws and inserts are supposed to go, otherwise you will have a really tough time, putting the grill into the backing.
This is how it will come out in the end just before you install it back onto the car.
The hardest part might be putting the screws in. It may seem that it won't go in, yes it will. Be a man(even if your a woman) and push it hard.
Now once you finish, it may come out deformed. It will have grooves in it, here's where the strings come in handy once again. Put it thru the hole of the grill and loop it and not the backing, this may take some skill. Once you have done that you can pull the grill into shape. Or you can even turn it on it's backside and push it using your screwdriver, but this is hard and don't push too hard or else you may bend the metal too much. Good Luck!

instructions are good, you made it seem a little harder than I thought it was. I did 7 grills (on only 2 cars, just kept trying different things) and from the 1st to 7th found it very easy, no strings, no pressing really hard, just cut the grill right and it fits right in. the last grill I did took about 7 minutes and came out perfect!
Again, good instructions though
I wish these were up when I did my first grill, I was really confused.
