I wonder if those are true foglights or just the wimpy driving lights found on the CLs.

Looks like the only parts I'd want from it are the in-dash CD changer, white gauges, and maybe the mirrors.

Wonder how the interior looks.

Sorry guys, I don't like it at all, it really does look like a 4-door CL-S. That's why I got the TL instead of the CL-S in the first place, I think that the TL has got it over the CL-S in looks!!!!!! but of course the 260HP isn't bad at all IMHO!!!!!!

I knew the new TL would look more like the CL, it's cheaper for them to produce..I'll bet those headlights are the exact same as the CL!

It's a CL-S with 4 doors. I am glad I didn't wait around for the 2002 restyle job. The "new" look does nothing to stir my blood...but then neither did the 2000.

2001 buyers got hosed by Acura by the January release of the 2002. Plus they got no 6-disc in dash CD, or memory seats in 2001. Wasn't the 1999 model introduced in November 1998?

You guys think the price will go up across the board for the 2002 models??

the old front looked much better. I bet they use interchangable headlights and grille as the CL-S now. I'm glad I have the previous model because the CL-S is horrendous.

This is what I think

CONS
Still no true foglights.
Generic Acura Styling.

Pros
260 HP
Better brake "feel"
Larger rims

I am happier with my 2000 style TL and hope for a supercharger!

You guys noticed that they pointed out the .8g cupholder? Wonder if that is what the lateral g is rated at now with the TL-S, cuz I read somewhere that the TL was in the .77 range. I also like the auto-up driver window.

I acutally think the front of the CL-S was acceptable but the rear was BUTT UGLY. So the TL-S front doesnt look too bad as long as the rear doesnt start to round out like the CL-S

Well those are my opinions.

You guys are wrong. They did change the lights. They are all new, like the concept drawing. They have a round highbeam light that dips down, and the grille is larger and goes to the edge of the lights. Check out the video and you will see.

Acura made a bad move to remodel the TL like the CL. It losed its classy look. I'm probably not going to get the 2002 TL type S now.

actually, after looking at the video I kinda like the look of the front. and the back is the same except the inspire tails. What I really dont like about the CL is the elongated and bloated front end, the new TL doesnt seem to have that.

I definately aprove. But to trade my TL for it? Nah, I'd pass in that case.

Agreed!! Any year before this looks better. I'm sure the insides are getting better by the year though. All in all, I'm sticking with my boxier style TL.

The video does help show you what the car really looks like but I can't really tell the difference in the two that much. I do like the bigger rims and better engine. I want to get a 2000 model because it has the 5 speeds. I have a 99 with the 4 speeds and I think it is geared to tall. I think the gears of the 5 speed are spaced out better for better acceleration. What do you guys think.

Definitely like it, but enough to trade in my 2000?.... hmmmmm... I REALLY have to see it in person and give her a test drive. That will be the deciding factor. I already have a buyer for my 2000 who's dying to take it off my hands (at a pretty good price), but it's a big loss for only 1 year.

I want a list of the 500 improvements they made on it. I know I couldn't think of 500 things that I would change on my TL.

That blue TL looks exactly like the CL I took pics of at SEMA. The added features are nice, but I think I prefer the front end on my '99....and those are lamps not fogs, but you can probably replace with a brighter bulb. I'll keep mine for now

I didn't think much of the pic alone. But if you watch the video, I think the car looks very much like the TL, only upgraded. I'll still reserve judgement though until I can see one in person. SLVR TL, I hope you have a good digital camera & post us some pics from ALL angles of the TL-type S! PLEASSSEEEE!

dude guys.. I like the video very much!!! it still looks agressive and classy enough. Did u see the inspire tails and the steering wheel with the Acura emblem on it? like the one you saw in SEMA? now that's awesome.. The engine cover has been changed to a much better one. But there is a black box on the left side of the engine... what's that guys?

Okay it has Inspire tail lights. Very cool. I wonder if they just put inspire tail lights from Japan on the Type-S or if they actually redesigned them with different dimensions, like the front end, just sorta different, but enough for us not to fit them in without some body work, just to sort of spite us.

Intuition says its just a set of imported inspire tails. Great... now everyone's gonna call em Type-S tails. We know who the hardcore mofo's are... those of us who know where they really came from and call them by their rightful name.

Mirrors are almost identical. The video was kind of scratchy. I wouldnt have been able to tell if they didn't make it obvious to me to begin with. I'd really have to see it side by side.

The front end? I'll go with the Type S for now, since it has fogs, but I KNOW we've got a kit in our near future. Where was that front end that someone was working on getting us... fitting a Wings West W-Type from the accord V6? whatever happened to that, fools? I would easily give up fogs for that Wings West kit.

The wheels, yech, my 18"s over those HANDS DOWN. Same for the wannabe-sport rubber on them too.

As far as the interior goes... I like my inspire steering wheel better, biotch!

I wonder if they changed the exhaust tips too look like the CL Type S's or if they're more like the Comptechs. The exhaust is obviously better than our stock exhasts.

Also about the interior... NO TYPE S SEATS!!! they just look like ours with a little more bulge to the side bolsters, maybe none at all? dunno why, maybe the CL's took up too much room for a Sedan, or they cost too much. Who knows.

I wonder if Acura will release a different front end chin spoiler for the Type-S cause I'm sure the sideskirts and rear will still fit, why wouldnt they? that'll be an odd situation for them.

If you looked at the engine bay pic, it was either mirror'd or very very different than our engine. And that valve cover, it made the engine look like it was longtitudonal as opposed to transversal.

I guess the only thing we hold over them is their deficciency in the prospect of Forced Induction... But that's not too much.

Great car, can't wait to see one in person.

Remember F=MA, the tails are actually made here in US, exported to Japan. It's a no brainer for Acura to use them.

So my question is: will the cost drop? from the f*cking ridiculous price of $500 or so? When even BMW's and MR2's can get a set of tails for about $100? What makes Acura's OEM so special?

Talking FINALLY, PICTURE OF 2002 TL-S

http://www.motortrend.com/autoshows/la01/

Here is the website to the picture.

To me the front-end looks like the CL-S. But we finally get the 260 hp engine, memory seats, 6-disc cd changer, and fog lights. There's more to this so go check it out and tell me what you guys think.

Well...from the picture, I'm glad I got the 2001 model. 2002 just doesn't look like a TL, looks more like a CL. I don't like the headlights and the rims. I think the door handle is like the RL, but I'm not sure. If it is...then I like that part

When is it suppost to come out?? This year I'd assume. I'm pissed because those get Inspire tails and now I don't want them. I wouldn't want them after that one get's them. It'll look like a wannabe "Type S". IMO anyway...

I dunno dude, 3 series sedans get red and amber tail lights, 3 series coupes get red amber and a little clear tail lights, M3's get full red and clear tail lights with not amber at all. So it seems that BMW associates clear with sporty.

But I've seen plenty of 328 sedans and coupes with only red and clear tail lights, AND IT LOOKS COOL, I dont think they're M3 wannabe looking, its just plain clean and tasteful. I'm gonna do the inspire tail lights, if the price of them drops.
