Finally got the TL back!

Hey guys. I don't know if I ever posted anything on this side of the forums but I got t-boned in my TL on January 18th, some guy ran a red and nailed me and the car I was next to. I was hoping insurance would total it but the initial estimate came out to $4800. As it turned out when it was all said and done there was about $6800 worth of damage, which I'm sure had they known at the time they would have totaled it. I will have some before and after pictures for you guys as soon as I get home and get them off of my camera. It's great to have my TL back, I had been driving my moms 07 Civic, until I rear ended someone that is...

Congrats on getting your car back.

With a 2000 TL and initial estimate of damage was $4,800, they should have totaled it.

they only total cars here if the damage surpasses the cars worth.. and its BB'ed at like 7 or 8???

so 4,800 is in range of fixing no doubt

insurance would lose money totalling an 8k car for 5k because they still gotta make a check out to you for 8... or they can pay the 5 to fix

thats a bold insurance company.. i wrecked my accord and damage was 4k and the car was worth 5.. they fixed it.

makes since though. but if it was half i could wreck the front of my TL and make money off the deal lol. i wish they cut me a check for 7k after 3,500 of damage

I say that because I had Farmers insurance and when I got in a wreck with my TL (front end) in April '07, they totaled out my car for nearly $16,000. I bought it back from the insurance for $5,000 and fixed it for another $4,000 and pocketed almost $7,000.

Glad your okay mang.
But yeah I think that $4800 worth of damage should of been considered total depending on which insurance you got.

I always wondered this... If someone T-Bones you and damages the B-Pillar (not the ones on the doors, like the metal one that supports the roof of the car) what do they do to fix it? It's not like you can take it off and replace it with another.
