are you saying by clearing out the yellow piece of the headlamp it makes the light shine less? i do'nt get it................

i've been blackening headlights out in all kinds of cars and haven't had any sort of idea that it reduces any light output............

This is simply to replace the yellow diffuser in our headlights with a clear one so you dont just have a hole there after removing the factory one. It would help spread the light better but is more for the look of it than anything else.

 

Dude I am sorry to single you out and I am in no way the person behind these but I do want them bad and DO NOT understand what is so f-ing difficult about this... You want to be in, do like EVERYONE else has and add your own f-ing name to the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from what it sounds like, CleanCL is looking into getting both 99-01 and 02-03 clear diffusers made? Correct me if I'm wrong.

@Danman421 Sorry, I should have specified that I was looking for the clear diffusers for my 99 which is why I left my name off of the list. I'll keep it on the list though if it helps you guys get to fifty.

Are the 02-03 diffusers the same as the 01-03 CL diffusers?

Me and my friend can possibly get them made sooner than CleanCL can.

 

Hi everyone. I have the potential to have these produced in an overseas factory. My father owns a garden tool company and produces injection-molded tools. I just had a conversation with him about producing diffusers in his factory.

I mentioned only the 2g CL, so two pieces, and he estimated $3000-$5000 for the mold and then a few bucks at most for each part made. I will discuss tomorrow with him the incremental cost for extra slots in the mold for 1g CL, 1g TL, 2g Tl and 3gTL, as I feel we can get a larger demand and thus a lower cost per unit.

I am leaving early tomorrow morning to head home, but (this might be some sort of sign) I have a 2g TL headlight housing in my apartment right now that someone gave me to clear for them, so I am going to try and get the diffuser out of that tonight and bring it home with me to give him a better idea of what we are working with.

Also, these would be made with high-quality polymers speced to withstand headlight housing temperatures and road vibration - anyone have any input into how hot it would get in the headlight where the diffuser is/mounts to? If you have an IR thermometer this may be time to bust it out.

The question now becomes one of supply and demand, and the cost associated. The more people who want this, the lower the cost can be. I am going to start off and say how many people would pay $30-$40 for this piece (plus or including shipping, depending on what the mold and production cost work out to - shipping would probably be $10 at most).

I would not be looking to make much money on this, just enough to cover production and shipping - and maybe make enough to buy some headers (not comptech)?


So - how many people would pay $30-$40 for clear diffusers (preliminary estimate)?

This has a good chance at happening if enough people respond (but you need to be serious - I don't want to be sitting on 100 of these things cause people who said they will buy them don't. I will test them vigorously before I take your money and ship them).

not to burst your bubble, but i've seen this type of thread before about the diffusers and when rick was selling them for 70 bucks, a lot of people balked at having to pay that much for pieces of plastic, even though quite a few members said they would get it. so, unless you get it to around 40 bucks, i think quite a few peeps will flake out in it. the longer you wait in making it, the more interest dies in buying it and people move on to other cars.
