i'm sure many of you have had the unichip installed for sometime. i'm just wondering what your feedback is on the performance gains since you've had it installed.

i actually purchased my tls with the chip installed so i cant really compare before and after but i was thinking about having the chip removed or atleast turned off to improve my mpg. any thoughts???

 

I have had the Unichip installed on my 02-TLS for about 9 months. With a custom tune of the chip, I gained about 4-5 whp. Total cost of the chip was about $600.
Not worth the price for the gain. I don't think your mpg will increase any if you remove the chip. However, if the chip was not custom tuned for your car you fuel/air ratio may not be correct and cause predetonation. This was a common problem for the Unichips with the mapping from Unichip. If it was not custom tuned then I would unplug the chip.
