Which is Faster???

Opinion question and maybe someone has raced one. Want to know which is faster.. and 03 TLS or 00, 01, 02, 03 MAXIMA.

Me and my friend are arguing..and I think it will be close. But in my opinon I think my car will take an 04 MAX w/o a problem cuz I hear the 0-60 on that is in the 7's.

Thanx!!

why don't you go race and find out...I would hit the drag strip if you want to do it from a stop...it will be a good time.

Too many variables...A stick Maxima post '01 should be dead on or quicker, and all seem to be a bit better down low than the
TL-S...But you don't know 'til you try and the cars are close enough that drivers are the key in most instances...

Let's not forget the biggest key factor...it's all based on the driver's skill. I used to street race 5.0 Mustangs when I was younger with a Miata...believe it or not I never lost. They'd sit there and spin their tires, I'd chirp mine and wait for them at the next light.

An 02/03 Maxima SE in manual transmission is faster than a TLS.

An 02/03 Maxima SE in automatic transmission gets the jump initially but the TLS will catch up and pass it around 60 MPH.

A 2004 Maxima SE in either automatic or manual transmission is slower than a TLS.

All the above takes into consideration that the driver of each car is competant and knows the cars inside and out.

I don't know but I beat a few so call GTs when I have my '96 Maxima SE 5spd. Remember that the '96 SE 0-60 was 6.6sec and that's without any mods and with 190hp to start, and I have a few mods in it. The key....less weigth baby.
As for your question, the newer Maximas got slower, why?, again they weight more. More power+more weight= same or slower car. The TL-S should have no problem keeping up or wining against the 00 to 04 Maximas, the driver will make a big difference here. Good luck in trying.

2002 maxima 6.0 seconds 0 to 60 in a manual
2004 maxima 6.3 seconds 0 to 60 in a manual

TLS 6.2 if i recall correctly.

So it would probably come down to driver/mods.

In the end, there's nothing to prove, both cars are freaking quick!

No idea how accurate these numbers are but this is a fun site to check out. Does not list a Maxima though.

I test drove a manual '03 Maxima when I was car shopping last year. It seemed quite a bit more responsive than the TLS at city driving speeds. Don't know about 1/4 mile or top end. Ended up buying the TLS for interior/exterior appearance reasons as much as anything.

Id say all the cars are close enough that it comes down to driver, and no one can tell you which one is going to definitely win. In your two cases, theres one way to find out.
