check your radiator fluid, its probably low. But wait till the car cools off completely!!!!!!!!

Something is overheating or your cooling system is poor. check coolant, oil, transmission fluid, fan, thermalstat.

Doesnt mean the you coolant is low necessarily. I would check anyway (you should check it ever time you fill up, along with oil, trans, ps, and brake levels. Not that most people do, just always a good idea. But if your levels are fine, and your temp gauge doesnt go past 1/2 you're fine. Also from what i've heard I'd only use Honda/Acura type 2 antifreeze.

It could also be a faulty fan switch. Many have had that problem as well. Always check your fluid level first. Also is your temp gage higher than normal at all?

Ive had this problem recently as well

and when I check the coolant level the resevoir behind the driver side headlight is always empty. So I refill it with Honda Genuine coolant

This afternoon is the second time ive had to refill it, but if it was a leak I should be able to find it right? I mean I would be able to see fluid leaking under the car or even from the radiator

I'll keep you guys updated after tommorrow

How fast are you going thru coolant? is there any white smoke coming from your exhaust? if so you could have a head gasket problem.
check your oil to see if it is shows signs of coolant.

Have the coolant system pressure tested to find the leak
check if engine oil is way above full and possibly grey and foamy
Do the same check of the radiator itself- remove cap only when dead COLD engine
look for grey or foam or oil
Check all hose clamps first- leaks at idle at not the same as leaks under driving pressures

A gen3 TL recently had a lower hose clamp break ,and fling part of itself into the radiator- leak-leak leak- not seen- bottle empty- then poof smoke then- luckily warranty covered all

Hey Kris- does the TL have a port for fluid discharge when wp seal goes- like other normal cars would have?

fan running after shutoff

Any recent work done or has this just recently started ? As previously mentioned, a pressure check of the cooling system is your best bet. There could be a small leak somewhere while operating under pressure. It's possible that air may be trapped or perhaps your coolant ratio isn't correct. The cooling fan is actually being told to stay on for a short period of time after the motor's shutdown when the coolant thermosensor detects an overheated condition. This is by design after stressed conditions such as if the motor has been idling for a long time or has been subjected to heavy stop 'n go or pedal 'da metal driving.

ign switches are 40 bucks, dealer item- or call the dealers who sell to us cheap thru azine
Sometimes the dealer will replace it again since it was a recall item- ask the SERVICE MANAGER

SOFT brush to remove bugs on radiator but thats not your problem.
The fan runs on a temp sensor- if its connection is grungy or the sensor died- which happens to all types of cars, fix the problem- then think coolant change if over 5 years on coolant. AC not cold- check the ac sight glass for clean or is it milky
There could be a thermostat prob too

How many miles on the water pump?
Low flow will promt the other issues you are having from loss of fluid ......
Has it been pressure tested yet?

Well the problem happened today after I got to my girlfriends apartment complex, probably not evena 10-15 mile drive. The problem is, is that this coolant boiling up due to such extreme heat I guess is only A. when its really hot outside (which is everyday in South Flo) and B. the AC has been on. Im thinking its the fan switch because Ive had this problem before where the fan behind the radiator on the left, which is the condensor fan is not running, only the radiator fan is. So in essence the radiator fan is doing all the work. Im taking the car to the dealership tommorow and I hope its not a big deal or maybe they'll fix it for free because I had alot of work done in the coolant/radiator section if you will about 6 months ago

fingers are cross boys...

Im hoping they will check the ignition switch, fan switch, water pump etc.

Im thinking its the water pump because apparently I checked the maintenance history on my vehicle and the previous owner did the 100,000 check at I belive like 98,XXX and they didnt change the water pump because it was still in working order. unreal

So if my assumption is correct, my original water pump from the day of production, 168,000 miles ago finally gave up and now I need to replace it.

then call the parts dept and ask how much and how long to order one for you
Strange a service dept would do the timing belt at 100 and not replace the water pump- thats VERY strange

I kinda doubt its the pump. Id bet on a thermostat, and that it needs a flush with fresh coolant.

For your AC getting hot when at idle, check your system pressure. That is a first sign of low AC refrigerant. As for the fan comming on after shutdown, sometimes normal. The fan will shut down even if coolant still hot. For some reason there seems to be a restart in the PCM for Temp system check after shutdown. Then the fan will come back on.

Well its been a few days since I got her back, but I got held up with school and work

Anywho it was just the condensor fan burning out and not helping the radiator fan in cooling efficientely. So Acura even picked up the entire tab in that it was covered under warranty

Guess it was my lucky day

Mine has done this maybe twice. Maybe its time for a Mugen fan switch, Mugen thermostat, and Mugen radiator cap.. lol

mine has been doing this lately, mainly after hard driving. The temp gauge shoots way up when ideling or slow driving . I'm gonna flush and change the fluid to see if this fixes it. Any other suggestions or ideas on what it could be. the coolant levels are fine and the fan works obviously since it is staying on after driving

Ya my temp gauge would shoot up as well especially after long drives or just it being really brutal outside as far as the heat goes

I think I cars just have a weak radiator/condensor fan setup. Thats my two cents
