Factory alarm '00 TL
Factory alarm '00 TL
Are you able to set the alarm on a '00 TL with the hood open?
If so, my hood switch is definately defective because I CAN set my alarm with open hood.
Thanks for the feedback, this is a great forum.

I took the latch assembly apart. Super easy. Remove shroud, remove 3 latch assembly screws. There IS a microswitch in there. And it was defective and probably going bad for awhile (corrosion). I simply disconnected it untill I can get a new assembly.
Problem Solved!
Thanks for all the feedback.

just out of curiousity, do you usually leave the hood open in places where you think you need an alarm?
i found out the hard way that if you turn the car off and unlock the door and sit in it for 30 minutes and unlock the door again that the alarm will go off. kind of odd they way mine is set up. also i find that my doors don't always automatically lock. they do it pretty much whenever they feel like it. wierd.

I guess the 'hood alarm' is useless now. Maybe I should just remove the hood
Yep, sometimes my doors lock automatically, sometimes no. I'm always afraid that I'll lock my keys in the car. Outta get a hide-a-key. My Ford Explorer has that cool keypad entry on it, I've never been locked out with that feature.
