Extrude Honed
Has anyone had thier intake and cylinder Extrude Honed? I live only about a 1/2 from the Extrude honed headquarters. I was just wandering what the gains are. I sent them a email to find out the cost. I should know by Tuesday.

Well I got a reply back from Extrude honed. Here's what it said.
Thank you for your recent inquiry. Rick Miller says the cost to have a V-6 intake processed is $585.00 plus shipping, a 4 cylinder is $395.00 plus shipping. The cost for V-6 cylinder heads is $700.00 per pair,
plus shipping and the cost for 4 cylinder heads is $585.00 plus
shipping.
If you have further questions for Rick, please call him at
1-800-613-1065 or reply to this e-mail.

I am going to call Rick and see what the hp and tq gains might be.

I used to work for a company that used the extrude hone process on aircraft engine parts.
For those that don't know what it is, they hydraulically force a paste containing carbide flakes through a part in order to smooth out roughness. It can smooth out machining marks, casting roughness, etc.
I didn't know they did that to engine intakes. Do you really think a TL's intakes are rough enough to need this process? Did you consider doing it the old fashioned way (i.e. dremel)?

I agree. If there is not a signifigant gain in HP I will not do it. I did not have a chance to call Rick yet to ask him questions. When I call him I will post back what he said.

Thanks NSXNEXT I will do a search on the cl forum.
Ianbiz3 what are u lost about. Extrude honed is a process in witch you have to remove intake manifold and send it to the company they inturn run a abrasive media through it to smooth any inperfection inside. Therefore making a freer flowing intake = more HP. Anybody correct me if i am wrong. I am just trying to find out what the gain might be. If it is substantial it might be worth doing. Hope this help you find yourself. LOL

while every thing was off i would port match port and polish. you will see gains in hp but as far as 30? the more you have done to the engine the more possibility for larger hp gains

He said that any gains were mininmal. IMHO, doing this mod is not worth the cost.
