extended warranty option
Guys, what is the best pricing you've seen on getting an extended warranty? The wife's '03 TLS currently has ~44k on it. I've looked into getting the 5/100k (don't need the 7 as it looks like we'll hit the 100k before the years) warranty and the best price i've gotten is ~$1100.
Anyone got any recommendations on who to purchase this warranty from? BTW, the quote above is for a zero deductible 100% acura warranty.
Any info would be great!
Thanks!

I just picked up a 7-100K for about 1500 (I have a 00-TL), plus tire/wheel protection. They offered me about 1200 for the 5-100K. Just call around to the different dealers in your area and have them compete for you, that's the best way. Just make sure they don't try to pull something funny and read the warranty they are going to sell you (as in, they'll hand you a large sheet of paper with a bunch of marks on it - make sure you read all of it because it's possible for them to not check certain things).

The best price i've gotten for my '03 TL is:
7/100k $1285
5/100k $1080
This is both from Acura. So it's zero deductible. Wonder if I can get the dealers to deal it below $1k. I've heard invoice on these warranties are like $400!

Well, I'm not really looking at it as $1080 for an extra year. At the rate we're going, we're going to hit the milage before we hit the date in terms of expiring the warranty. So that's what I'm looking at.
Basically the car in-service date is: 4/10/03
The standard 4/50 expires on: 4/10/07
The 5/100 would expire on: 4/10/08
The 7/100 would expire on: 4/10/10
(correct me if I got the years incorrect here)
So basically if i bought the 5 year, I would have 3 more years to drive 50k miles.

I am not much of a fan of extended warranties. I forgot what the standard warranty is, plus I am over in the mileage catagory, but on the tranny you are covered till 100K, so I am not worried at the present moment. After 100k I want to keep the car but it all depends on the tranny. The TL is a soild car for the most part, the only issue in the tranny. Why shell out the extra dollars if they are not needed?
