This company Warranty Acceptance Corporation has mailed me an offer for an "expanded warranty." They seem to know that my 2001 CL-S warranty has just expired, which it has. 12 months for $169, with unlimited mileage. Covers a lot of things like engine, transmission (not needed), main electrical stuff (not stereo), suspension, instrumentation, brake components, etc.
Who are they? Is it worth it? Do I need this? What's the catch? I've read about bad experiences from other warranty companies, and they sound like a scam. On the other hand, while I don't think my car is going to need any major repairs soon, you never know....

Extended warranties that are not from the manufacturer are usually crap.

I've heard the same thing. The claim process, if something ever does go wrong, is a nightmare and they're prone to be more of a hassle than anything else.
