exhaust question

Currently have a pair of comptech mufflers, thinking of doing a custom cat back. It will run me $$ more or less the same as a Apexi WS II Catback. I am leaning towards the apexi option b/e this is a direct bolt on which I can do myself. I am scared of going with a custom job, i.e. exhaust might not be welded evenly to y pipe, and look uneven from behind the car etc. I hate having someone else do work on my car, even the acura dealers, I prefer to do it myself. What do you guys think? Do you see where I am coming from? Thanks in advance sorry for long post.

I'd say definitly go with the custom Y-pipe... I was in the exact situation as you and went with a 2.5 inch pipe and I couldn't be happier with the tone and I even feel a bit of a gain without the muffler and my Type-S cams. One drawback is that most likely they will have to cut up to the muffler of the axel-backs to make an even correct weld, but it still looks better than any cat-back system which you would buy from the factory.

It costs around 250-300 for the job. I knew the guy at the shop, so I got it for 150.

well the connectors of the Comptech Mufflers had to be cut off in order to get an even weld. I'm not planning on selling any parts of my car, so I went ahead and did it. But, Yes it fits perfectly, if you can see the gap of the exhaust from the bumper it's literally 5mm... perfect fit.

only thing i dont like is with the wider piping, the whole exhaust hangs really low, especially at the Y-pipe, so u g2 be careful on driveways or u scrape the piping, i've done it a couple times.
