Exhaust heat shield

Yes, I did the search and no they didn't help. So, quick question, is the exhaust heat shield needed?

I was under the car after installing my CAI filter and I went to check on my heat wrap around the flex pipe. I noticed that my heat shield was disconnected on one corner. Unfortunately, it wasn't a bolt but both two areas around the bolt completely rusted and broke apart. I had no choice but to take the bottom part of the shield off. Should I order a new one or can I just leave it the way it is?

cool...thanks!
I'm curious about your signature...most people drop their cars 1-2 inches, but you have 6 in lift. Did you raise your car 6 inches?? Can you post a pic of what a 30% windshield tint looks like? I don't think I've ever seen anyone tint the front windshield.

6 inch drop... ermm he' joking about that lol.

and it's illegal to tint windshield, I wouldn't do it, but I have black int.

Will the heatshield still fit with any headers? (comptech, dc, xs)?

LOL. i had no idea what you were talking about. i forgot i put that in my sig. The window tint is in fact illegal. The cops in arkansas do not really care. i have had one ask me about it but did nothing. here is a picture showing the diff.

That happened to me too. On my mid resonator when I was getting it removed the guy was like would you like me to take this off cause its rusted all around the screws and only one screw is holding it on. I'm thinking about getting it taken off when I get my other resonator removed. My exhaust guy said it wouldn't make a difference at least for the mid resonator. Not sure about the cat.
