when i turn my car on the maintenance required light flashes, the TCS light comes on, and the CEL is also on

the TCS turns off after a few seconds

i read that TCS+CEL= tranny failure

what the hell is going on


i took the car to the dealership and they wanted $130 JUST TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS....so i left

 

I just had this problem last night on my way home from the Toronto meet.

My maintenance light was on solid after blinking for a few days. I didn't reset, and last night, the CEL came on, along with the VSA lights. The VSA lights went off after a restart, but the CEL remained on.

I reset the maintenance light, then the CEL went off this morning when I restarted the car.

But in your case, it's just blinking. Nonetheless, I would try the reset procedure for the maintenance light and see what happens. Take your car to AutoZone if you have one in the area. They scan codes for free. The diagnostics port is underneath the "Not an Ashtray" tray -- grab the cover and pop it toward you. If it's a later batch '02 or an '03, then it's underneath the steering column.

those 2 lights on DOESNT mean failure of the tranny (but it also doesnt mean that it isnt). just about any time the check engine light comes on the TCS light comes on. (per 4 different mechanics and prior experiance)
bring the car to a autozone or like store that has free diagnostics and let them plug the car in and read the code for you.
