yoo congrats on the buy, yeah i have one... but i dont really have much of an opinion on it right now. I've only had it for two weeks and before that i had an 8500 X50 (blue) and that thing worked really well so i had really high expectations for this, but this one is too complicated. I keep it on highway all the time and it still picks up everything a bit late because according to the booklet it differentiates between what is real and what is a false alert so i feel it alerts me too late. But my favorite feature is probably when it picks up a potential alert it tells you how fast your going. The voice alert is pretty cool i guess... but nothing special because all it tells you is what band it is. And honestly who cares what band it is... all that matters is you have to slow down lol. Other than that.... no complaints lol

I still prefer my old 8500 X50 over it though...give me some more time with it though lol

Yea I had the 8500 x50 too and I loved it. My whole family only uses Escorts so the only thing to do was to buy the newest one.

I've been interested in the new 9500 as well because I have an 8500(blue) now and it's been great, but I've been leaning toward getting a V1.

hmmm u can get the V1 but let me tell you a quick story lol. My friend and I were on my street which is like a mile of straight road and he was right next to me; we see a car's headlights comming so my radar (8500 X50 at the time) goes off and 3-4 seconds later, his V1 goes off..... those seconds are crucial.... or so i think lol

Ive got the 8500, and really look forward to getting the 9500 this fall. My buddy has it and has learned most of the cool things and the detetor works better than the 8500. Programing in the areas that always give falses is a very cool feature.

Oh, Ive got the V1 and the 8500. The V1 sits on the desk. The 8500 is far better.

Radar detectors are illegal here in good old VA, so I don't have one but I was curious why there is a price difference in the blue and red 8500.

In VA where they are illegal, you might want to get the BEL STi. It is supposed to be the only detector that is invisible to police detectors. http://www.beltronics.com/sti.html

I have the 8500 X50 (blue) and I also believe it offers VGA (radar detectror detector) I've never had any problems with it in virginia and I have it mounted to the left of my rear view mirror and with the tint I still have no complaints. It's saved my ass on plenty of occasions. Only time I got a ticket with it was when I forgot to turn the damn thing on after a rest stop. I was pissed only to look up and realize I had never turned it on. Now it comes on with the turn of the ignition :o)

I have had the 9500i for about 2-3 months. Picked it up when they first came out. I had a Escort 8500 x50 and a V1 and the 9500i is far better than both. Far fewer false signals and the range seems to be a bit better than my previous 8500 x50. The V1 gave far too many false signals. IMHO, the 9500i is currently the best detector on the market.

I think they just want to charge extra for cosmetic reasons, it has no extra features that I know of. I can't imagine blue LEDs could be $40 more than red, but I like blue better so I gladly paid the extra $$$.

That's what I was thinking...$40 just for blue LEDs?? That's ridiculous, but I like blue better as well and would probably pay the extra if I decided to get one.
