Engine stalled 3 times, no check engine light.
Just a few days ago I parked my car after driving home from school.
When I went to restart my car, the engine had an idle of about 200 rpms and chugged like an old carburated Nova. I was like, WTF? And a few seconds later, it stalled! I restarted, tried to go in reverse, and it stalled!
This happened 3 times. I even tried gasing it (just like an old carburated engine), but it wouldn't respond to the thottle.
On the 4th tried it worked. What could explain this?
The only thing I can think of is that I filled the tank up with 94 Octane 10% ethanol fuel from Mohawk. I have done this many times before, and I believe the instruction manual says that ethanol blended fuels are fine (up to 10%)
Any comments for my 2000 TL?

hmm... I'd say just stick with regular gas and get a good fuel injector cleaning. I bought 2 jugs of Redline from pepboys yesterday. My car had been stalling on me too, exactly like yours is doing. I replaced the spark plugs and its doing just fine now.

That's happened with mine three or four times in the past year and a half, it's most likely carbon build up in the manifold, etc..
It hasn't caused me any problems other than the embarrassing stare you get when you STALL a lowered luxury sedan... it happened right after seeing a buddy of mine.. He just finished sayin.. " Nice ride, man!!" then STALL lolololol.

Okay, so the check engine light goes on this time.
So the car stalls on me again today. But this time, the check engine light came on! I was so happy because I thought the computer had logged a code that will help the dealership determine the problem.
But much to my disappointment, it didn't stay on for the next restart.
Err....is the code still in the computer?

I am in the market to purchase an OBD II - what manufacturer would you recommend? Or are they all pretty much the same? Or are there certain features you'd recommend?
My wifes '96 Maxima is having a hesitating/stalling problem when the engine warms up. Its ok when its relatively cold - but once it warms up, it has issues. The CEL has not come on though - thought it might be beneficial to have a diagnostic scan tool hooked up, then try to recreate the prob. Anyone have any suggestions?
