Was talking to a friend at a stop light and noticed a clicking in the engine. I stopped to check it out. It gets the most noticable with the car in any drive postion (not neutral). But if i open the hood and get right in there it can still be heard in neutral, so it gets worse with load (not good im assuming ). It is more like a rattling than a ticking. It almost sounds like somone has a hollow steel ball and it rattling a ball bearing in it (i know rough eh). Just wanted to check up before i took it to the dealer. Here is a picture with an arrow pointing to the noise area.

We're discussing the same thing, and my TL-S has the same problem. The idler pulley is the silver one that you can see the topside of because the belt runs underneath it. Several people have posted that they have had theirs replaced already. If mine acts up again I will do the same.

Yup its the idler puller, but is it under warranty?

Hey I have the same problem! Park Ave acura ordered it for me but i have just been too busy with school to go and get it fixed. Its really annoying sometimes because I can hear it from inside. I have a couple of questions for you though.

1. How does it get warped?
2. My car idles really low when you start a warm engine ~4-500 rpm's and the car shakes until you either turn the steering wheel where it goes up to normal. Also when you put some gas to make it normal. Could this be the problem?

Yeah, mine has that same low idle... The pulley must be under friction and holding the engine back. So is the part under warranty or not?

i have that too... kinda sounds like a leaf or a piece of plastic is kinda stuck in some time of pulley... tick tick tick tick tick... hate it!

i guess goin to the dealer is the best choice
