Smile engine power

anyone have any input on the future more and more cars are goin to be efficient, and faster, i remember 200 hp on a v6 was alright couple years back now 260 is just gettin normal. maybe type-s will be standard for a cl/tl and maybe the m3 will be a standard 3 series in a couple of years?!
anyone know if all these car makers keep building up, these 4 cyl.=240hp, 6 cyl.=300hp, 8cyl.=340 or more they'll become standard engine werk?! just curious.........

Well, to what I understand there's the limitation of the gasoline. About 30%efficiency at the most. Now throught better technology (valve timing) and better engine management system (ECU software). We are getting closer and closer to the limitation.

But at the same time that's only the engine. We will also get better tranny in the future. For example CVT type tranny that can handle more power. There will always be rooms for improving.
