Engine oil level above normal level mark

Hi guys,
I checked my engine oil and it's above the upper level mark. It's just a little bit over the upper level mark on the oil dipstick. Should I be concern?

How much above (in terms of the distance between the low and full marks).

About 1/8 or 3/16 above FULL level mark.

I'd drain the excess oil.

I think taking off the oil filter is too messy. How about just losen up the oil nut just to let the the oil drip a little?

you could do it that way. but if you go to far then you will make a big mess. removing the oil filter isnt that messy.

and just over the full line wont hurt. how did you check it? ittmay just have been a missreading? how much oil got put in the engine?

if its just a little bit over the full mark, then its OK. over time, the oil will probably burn off and should get you back to the full mark

5GAL??? that's about 4 GAL more than recomended...doesnt our car require something like 4.6quarts (~gal and 1/8th)?

Having a bit more oil doesnt matter...just think about the older oil that's left when you drain it...having too much oil IS VERY BAD!! you'll notice when you leave a dark and opaque cape of brown fog behind you...eventually leading to messing up the engine.
