Engine Mounts Installation Cost

I ordered a front and side mount or my 99 TL. I asked the mechanic at the Getty station where i got my car inspected how much he'd charge to install it. He's quoting 30 bucks for the front one and 20 for the side. It sounds reasonable to me. What do you think? Is it something that he can easily screw up? Dealer wants over 250 to install it.

Thanks

he has never seen a TL thats for sure- will he guarantee that price?
realistic 30 minutes for side mount
front for good tech who knows the job, about the same- but the book gives almost 2 hours iirc

Dealership charged me 1400 total for the three engine mounts. I might pay to get the rear done, but the front and side look easy enough.

HOLY CRAP And here im thinking they are stealing me for the Timing Belt Service (Parts+Labor) 800 bucks... You Sir WOW.

> Side mount is Insanely easy to Replace 15 min tops if you DIYs alot...
> Front Start to be a little Complicated (Removing the Mount Itself) Tops 30-45 Min
> Rear is for PROs Only or Hardcore DIYers too Much Shit to do, First time got me 2 hours and alot of Swearing! Now I think I can do it around 1..

I guess I've done too many . . . I got the front and side down to about 30mins total. But that's a car that has no rust or anything.

Shoot, for that price I'll be opening up a shop tomorrow and retire in a few years.

No I didn't pay that, sorry for the confusion. That's just the price they told me. I'm going to tackle the front and side mounts myself, but I don't think I'll be in it for the rear.

I asked the dealer for just the rear mount labor, and they said $350. Is that a decent price for just labor? I understand it's pretty involved, so I want to have it done properly.

I'm planning to do the front and side myself, since they don't look as hard as the rear.

The service guy at the dealership said ~3 hours according to the book for the rear mount. I figure 350 is appropriate for 3 hours at a dealership.

$350 for rear mount labor @ dealership sounds reasonable?

For a dealership, that's not the lowest, but it's not the highest either, so for them it's a fair price. As for a dealership getting it done right, don't bank on it as they're capable of screwing it up too. They screwed up my car once and it was something fairly simple. As long as it's someone that has worked on them multiple times and they guarantee the work it's all a crap shoot.
