Exclamation Engine mount.....after research

Ok I posted my issue a while ago, after some more research I am now thinking it is the front motor mount, instead of the axles.

Please refer to my last post.....https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...117690.....and see what you all think.

I just went out to my car and put one foot on the break put it into drive and excellerated a bit. The front of the motor lifted anout 1.5 inches, then I did the same in reverse and it didnt lift as much.

I tried both reverse and forward due to the opposite torque twist.

Are there any other tests I can do to narrow this down?

thanks...

What type of mounts does the TL have? I know we have had luck with maximas pressing out the worn mount and filling with different compounds to create a more firm mount.

Yea we dont have those type. I helped my buddy do that on his. We have 2 that are vacum assisted motor mounts, and those are what tends to wear out.(in particular the front one)

I will have to get a hold of the TL this weekend and take a look at the mounts. I know we had a lot of success with the maxes and it was cheap.

Front is easy, took me 30min.

place a car jack under your engine oil pan jack the engine up a little about 1 inch.
Disconnect the mount vacume line.
Remove 4 bolt at the bottom and one on the top of the mount.
Then remove the mount bracket from the engine block (3 bolt).
Remove mount
install new mount
reinstall the bottom 4 bolt
install the mount bracket (28lb/ft torques) (you might need to play around with the jack to reposition the engine to the mount)
reinstall mount top bolt (40 lb/ft torques).
reinstall vacume line
remove the jack.
drive the car around the block
then loosen and tighten the top bolt again

Good luck

Did you have to remove the side engine mount before raising the engine up an inch?

No you don't have to remove the side engine mount. You are just removing the support pressure from the front engine mount so you can remove the mount. The side engine mount is flexible enought for you to move the engine around a little.

What made you narrow it down to a motor mount when in your earlier thread you'd ruled that out? And how did you determine it might be the front mount but not the side one? I ask because I have a vibration as well and I dont think its wheel balancing. I drive a considerable amount of miles a year (25k) and starting about 20k miles ago, i would get a vibration at speeds above 78MPH, and its gotten progressively worse so now I get vibration at anything over 70MPH. The thing is, there is no vibration when the car is idling. additionally, when I am driving at 75MPH and getting the vibration, I will put the car in neutral to take load off the engine yet the vibration is still there.
