Hey guys I own 99 TL and when I reach about 110 the car doesn't seem to go any faster but I'm nowhere near red lining. Does the 99 TL have an engine govorner in it? I highly doubt 110 is it's top speed seeing as how my Volvo 850 could get up to 125 mph and the TL has a much larger engine, is lighter, and more aerodynamic. (btw, 99 TL standard, not tls)

 

00 def dont have it cus i did 130. im pretty sure i have seen 99er's do higher then 110 so i dunno whats up wit ur baby

 

it's wierd cuz it flies to about 100, then in 4th it goes to about 110 and just stops. I haven't been there in a while but i think it's reving at about 3.5-4 rpm? The TL redlines at 6.5. what gives

 

1999-2003 TLs top out somewhere around 150mph.

btw wtf are you doin at 110mph in fourth?? you can get ur 3rd speed up to 125mph.. you will have much more power this way and you'll get in fourth at much higher rpm so maybe you'll reach more than 110...

99-01 TL-Ps top out at 130 unmodded. I think the 02-03 TL-S' top out at 150ish.

took mine up to 142 not modded with passengers..

and ive seen pics of TL-Ps going much faster than 130...

TL-S tops out at a governed speed of 147 mph. I've had her up to 145 mph in 4th gear.
But that's for the Type-S.


I think you're shifting too soon into 4th gear. Redline every gear and stay in 3rd. You will go faster than 110.
