Engine dies when stopping
Anyone experienced this: I slow down to make a turn and my engine dies, all the lights on the dash lights up. I start the engine with no problem, but then dies again at a stop sign. I will be taking car to the dealer today. Don't want this to happen while driving on the busy freeways.

Thanks for your replies, my last major service was at 30k and been doing the required service schedule after that. Now I have 50k. I take it in today to Acura and get it checked.

I have good news....for me that is. ahha.. my 1986 Ford Taurus does that..so I guess my Taurus (beater car) is up to par with your TL
AHHA J/P..but yea..umm..my dad's friend fixed it before..he did a whole lot of shit and fixed a lot in the engine. It could be your battery..not 100% accurate..but for me..one time, the battery was about to die and the ^^ problems occured. My dad replaced it..and it was fixed...
Sorry.not all that much advice..just very suprised cars like the TLs are having these problems. Hope my TL doesn't do that

I wouldn't settle for that kind of crap. The dealer just isn't interested in fixing it, when there definitely is a problem with the car. Go back to the dealer and demand to test drive the car with a mechanic or service agent.

There is definetly a problem to the car like the ^^ previous poster said. Fix it before it gets worse. I ignored it couple times it stalled on me. Eventually..it got worse where I was praying for my car to not stall at every light and every dip down a hill when I stopped. Definetly get it checked out or it'll get worse.
But, it's kinda hard for someone else to realize the problem because it happens randomly. I know that's how it went for my car. My dad drove it around and it never stalled on him. Yet when I drove it, it stalled. YOu gotta let them drive it long enough for them to notice it.. but not too long hehe.
good luck

I had the same problem right before I had my timing belt changed. My mechanic (acura certified tech.) is it is a common problem, but I am not sure if he said he cleaned out the fuel injector. I will find out from him and let u know. Also, he recommended using those fuel injector cleaners u add to the gas tank. Probably will not hurt to use it the next time u r filling up.

Yoshi- Actually..my car was fixed but now..it dies sometimes..but very rarely. Sometimes, at a stoplight (even ground)..my car will jerk a lil forward... That was how it was right before my car died on the stoplight. Now, it just jerks forward a lil and remains still the rest of the time. But other than that..i'm much more comfortable driving the car. BTW..the car won't die if your car is moving. Maybe at like highways or streets..it wont'..but if you happen to go under 5mph..then maybe it'll die..so don't worry about it dying on busy freeways..only if it's stop and go traffic. ( I just reread your O.P. so that's why i gave you that answer).

Went to another dealer and they are 95% sure its the idle control throttle. Having it replace this Sat. and under warranty. They've seen a few of these lately and feels this is what's causing the engine to die due to carbon build up. Will let you know outcome. thanks.
