How many cranks does it take to start your engine ?? Mine seems like it takes a few more ( 3 - 4) cranks when compared to last year!

Is it normal ?

 

define "cranks"....

cranks like holding the key counting the times the engine turns the crank

or crank like how many times you have to turn the key and hold to start?

 

Mine starts up real quick. I think the engine just turns either 1 or 2 arounds and zzzzrrrrrooommmm .....

In the past, mine would occasionally take about 5 or 6 cranks to start. This would never happen on a totally cold start. When the engine was hot and then let to cool for an hour, it would take extra cranking. There were some posts about this in the past. Some members mentioned that it was the higher compression of our engines that caused the need for extra cranking. At 20000mi, I don't seem to notice it anymore. Maybe I just got used to it. I don't think it should be a problem

 

By cranks I mean the engine seems to turn over at least twice where as before it would start nearly on a quarter turn.....
