For those of you who used it, how does the Duplicolor paint hold up? This is on my mod-to-do list but I don't have enough time. But I would like to make sure that it will hold up against the temp of the engine bay.

^I can't say much about duplicolor except that it's rated for 1200F which should be way more than needed.
I bought G2 paint, first blue...then I returned it and got green (I flip flopped alot) and it's rated for the same and it's not two days and it's great! the paint is smooth and it's usually cool to touch. It also looks great on the calipers as well.
I have a few cases to handle this week, I'll get the car washed and waxed over the weekend and shoot some pics

You are painting plastic. If it got that hot it wold melt. Dont worry about the paint. Worry about the prep job (cleaning primer ect...)

sorry if this sounds too newbish, but is there anything special i need to know before taking off just the engine cover? it's just the 4-6 bolts, correct? it's only being used as a cover, i'm assuming (obviously b/c of the name)?

so Ive tried this 2 times now and whenever the paint dry's and I touch it, it just flakes away.
I sanded a lot, primed w/ 2 coats, the white gloss, and the clear and it just falls apart?
Any help..

With white you can really do with any color you want but I would stick with the theme of the car...so if that's red, I would probably stay with that. The only think I'd be afraid of is overpowering with too much red. Maybe find a neutral color for the engine cover and do the intake manifold color red. I've got some pics of my engine bay on the first page for an idea of what I'm talking about.

I'm actually thinking of doing this to my 07 type S as well. I want to paint all the plastic pieces under my hood. Who's got the best paint to match a WDP? DuPont??? I want to try and get as close to a pearl finish like the factory paint is.

Any one that custom mixes paint will get the color you need. Many auto paints stores will put it into spray cans for you, there are places on line that you give them your paint code and they will mix the paint and put it into cans as well.

There are a bunch that have done it. It looks great (especially if that is the color of the car) I would paint the covers what ever the color of your car is.

I am planing on color matching my KBP TL-S, found a site online that makes it in a spray can, but I am not sure how much base, primer, and clear coat to order. They come in 12oz cans, and I plan on painting ALL of the covers. Any ideas how many cans of each I will need?
Thanks in advance.
